Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
exactly.
btw, outdoor shoots and india's weather don't seem to affect other actresses as much as they affect Aishwarya.

Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
Its not that what she's wearing is revealing, it's that its not "cultural"... I'd like to c that ad with her wearing a sari and jewelry, i wonder if it would have the same effect..
And as for loreal making them look "gori", i think they've had plenty of black models.. but if you notice, even black models n actresses r all on the lighter side.. i remember when each culture had their own idea of beauty, but now its becoming more global.. i.e., no matter what race, tall(ish), slim but curvy, with thick, long healthy hair and "light skin" (be it chinese, desi, even african-amercian) is considered "beautiful"
Btw, I've used that mascara, and it's pretty good! I never knew the whole fake eyelashes thing.. i think ill go try some one day :Pretty:
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
L'Oreal is a French company that caters primarily to the west. Why on earth are they going to put her in a saree and make it cultural? It's a mascara ad, so of course they are going to play up the eyes just like Lara Dutta's hair is played up in her desi hair commercial.
I watch loads of indian movies and yeah, she does look different, but she still looks gorgeous.
I guess I don't see what the big deal is.
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
^ i wasn't talking about her clothes and stuff, i meant her eye color, hair color, skin color etc. i totally dont mind it and i think she looks good but i see a difference in how she looks in her non-loreal stuff and i was just pointing that out.
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
wow! she looks amazing! the l'oreal pics are so innocent and beautiful. as for the whitewashed face....u still need the perfect face shape, the eyes, the lips and the cheekbones to look this good and shez got it. she went natural in shabd and looked divine, she was desi-whitish in HUM dil de chuke and she was divine, she was natural in taal and she was divine and she was dark in Khakee and she was still divine.
l'oreal isnt trying to promote indian beauty....but their product.
plus she doesnt look "WHITE" she looks medium light skinned.
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
she looks nasty. she looks the best in 'hum dil de chuke sanam.' her hair is too chipkaawa or something
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
i saw it in shoppers.. she looks fine.. :)
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
Aishaaa, her hair is slicked back, and yeah, it’s coloured darker than her brownish hair colour. I love it. It looks very classic.
You guys have to remember that hair colour makes a huge difference on appearance. When I was colouring my hair red, I looked a lot darker than I do now that I’m doing it dark brown/black. That could be it too. I don’t think they are trying to make her look white. Schweetz got it right, in my opinion, when she said they are advertising a product - cosmetics - not Indian beauty.
It’s a good job she didn’t get the role as the new Bond girl. I think a lot of you would be upset that she wasn’t trying to save the world in a saree instead of how Bond girls normally dress. ![]()
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
She looked her best in Hum Dil De chuke sanam. In every other movie she didnt look good at all but that’s just my opinion and we could argue about that forever. If you ask me, her eyes lack innocence, her nose isn’t perfect(it’s witchy) and her face shape especially when she loses weight is scary and too pointy. Her skin is dull. Her lips look good sometimes but sometimes they look too thick. I could go on forever… but i like how she’s representing south asian women. ![]()
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
she looks classy n pretty. you can doll her up any way, she looks fabulous in every cultural setting.
but some how i find sushmita sein more beautiful, she is just plain graceful and sophisticated.
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
honey u dont become miss world and get titles of most beautiful woman internationally too…and make it too most pretty lists with a nose like a witch, dull skin and scary face. shes over 30 now so yes she wont have the doe-eyed innocence of an 18 yr old girl but to say that she is all of the above is preposterous! personally i think she looked most beautiful in taal and shabd. EVERYONE from kajol to meera to rani mukherjee to iman ali has loads of makeup on…they do not look as pretty as ash does (giving u the benefit of the doubt that she is all that due to only makeup)
other than that i have had the chance to see her at laguardia airport au naturel. and she is beautiful.(VERY arrogant but beautiful)

^^ hahaha o gawd! now HOW do u manage to be so funny?hahahaha! hahahaha!hahahaha!
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
Jeez i dont have to agree with people's pretty lists all the time. I find Halle Berry very plain looking, Nicole Kidman oogly etc.
I think Iman is waaaaaaay prettier than Ash. I've seen both in real life and for me Iman's better.
I follow pageants pretty closely every year and many times the winners are less than pretty at least imo. I dont really like the two previous miss Universes(canada and australia). Also, Priyanka Chopra, MIss World 2000 is less than pretty(on screen she's gorgeous though).
and i find angelina jolie's lips disgusting too. omg am i going crazy cuz i dont agree with every stupid list that's put out there?
I dont agree with anyone on this list, (I thought Queen Rania was beautiful until i found out about her nosejob).
*Angelina Jolie; *
2: Christy Turlington
3: Queen Rania of Jordan
4: Sofia Coppola
5: Nigella Lawson
6: Uma Thurman
7: Emmanuelle Béart
8: Kate Moss
9: Aishwarya Rai
10: Princess Charlotte of Monaco
In Dil Ka Rishta, Isha Koppikar looked soo much better than Ashwaria(i think Isha's way prettier).
In Bride n Prejudice, Namrata Shirodkar and the Anne girl looked much better than Ashwaria.
In Kyun ho gaya na, Dia Mirza stole the show but then Ash had those nasty curls so i cant blame her.
and NO! i dont think Ash is all that due to makeup. I dont find her appealing with makeup either.

Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
i find it funny that just because i dont share your opinion on beauty you automatically assume i’m jealous. I find loads of people pretty, in Pakistan, Bollywood, Hollywood and people i see in real life. I can show you a whole list but sorry to say Ash Rai isn’t on that list.
Off the top of my head i think Gemma Ward(australia), Josie Maran(America), Bianca Balti(Italy), Iman Ali, Amna Shiffat, Amna Haq, Michelle Tractenberg, Yamila Diaz(argentina), Isabeli Fontana(brazil), last year’s miss world Maria Mantilla from Peru, Shivani Kapur(india), Katrina Kaif, Gal Gadot(Israel), Monica Spear(venezuela), bianca sissing(switzerland) are beautiful and i’m sure there are a billion people in this world who’ll disagree but that doesn’t mean they’re jealous.
shweets, i know a lot of people like angelina jolie and they get surprised when i say i dont like her lips. as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
and guys, its sad to see everyone’s soooo influenced by the western media. like if you think Ash Rai’s the most beautiful woman in the world, go ahead, but don’t say ‘but she was on people’s best looking list’ like People or Hello is some sort of authority on who’s beautiful or not.
Re: Aishwarya in Loreal
Chiaman, i cant stand angeline joilie.. i really dont c whats so appealing abt her! If i was a foot taller, i’d be better lookin than angelina
Okay im kidding ![]()
