Karan Johar Wants Aamir, Devgn on His Talk Show
Ending a three-year hiatus, when Karan Johar goes on air with the new season of his talk show, Koffee with Karan next week, he has a different wish list as his guests, which goes beyond his usual Bachchans and Shah Rukh Khans.
The filmmaker said he wanted Bollywood diva Rekha, actor Ajay Devgn, and Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan as his guests on the show.
Karan said he wanted Ajay Devgn on his show because of his enigmatic personality.
"But he is very shy and not talk show friendly. I would pursue him to be on my show because he is married to one of my favourite women," he said.
The show goes on air from November 7 on Star World with the opening episode featuring Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.
He said he has spoken to Aamir Khan and his director wife Kiran Rao too.
"Aamir has agreed but we have to work out the dates," he said.
Karan said last night he shot an episode with Imtiaz Ali, Raju Hirani,and Farah Khan and it turned out very well as if four filmmakers are having a conversation.
To a question on whether he would invite Ram Gopal Verma with whom he is reportedly not on good terms, Karan said, "Would like to ...But don't know what the TRPs will be. I would like to clear the air with him since it is through the media that we are getting at each other," he said.
When asked if he would get Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in one episode to clear their differences as well, he said he would not try that combination.
"First I would like to sort out problems in my life rather than interfering in others," he said adding I would like to have them in their individual capacities. I have already shot an episode with SRK, he said.
Addressing a press conference, Karan said most of the times his guests are those who are his close, personal friends. However, those whom he does not know well have been invited also, he said.
"What is important is how I phrase my questions so that they are not offended or I don't cross the line," he said.
Karan said he always tells his guests to chill out, have fun and be themselves before the shoot.
"Fans would like to see how their stars are when they are comfortably chatting," the filmmaker said.
He said he was pleasantly surprised to see how the new generation is evolved after shooting with Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and another one with Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
"They are cool and contemporary generation with a very civil behaviour despite speculations of them not getting along well," he said.
On the three-year gap between the second and the third season, Karan said he was busy with film production.
