Aisha (R)

Re: Aisha (R)

WHY would they be recommended to marry young and fertile women, when the Prophet didn't for the most part??

And frankly, who in the world goes for a rishtaa and confirms before marriage whether the girl is fertile or not? Would it be Islamic to take the girl to a doctor and get a fertility report before marriage?

The issue is that once you marry a girl, its only THEN that you find out she might be infertile. The Prophet did not divorce Aisha (R) on that basis, and neither does any man have the right to get a divorce done on that basis, especially if the wife does not want a divorce (and that's what happens in most cases anyway with Pakistanis).

What I'm saying is that its very ironic and interesting that God gave the PRophet so many wives, among whom the only really fertile one who gave successful surviving offspring was a widow of 40. The virgin wife did not give offspring, most likely due to her own infertility.

This hadith is never presented along with "Well, Bibi Ayesha was also infertile, but the Prophet had a very happy marriage with her..."

Aren't we supposed to emulate the Prophet, no exceptions? Then where does this hadith come from??
