To the OP ...Yes...!
I got back from Lahore a few days ago.Our tickets were purchased in USA and a few days before we were to leave Pakistan I got a call from the airline(Emirates) that anyone travelling from Pakistan after 16th January 2012,is subject to civil aviation tax,no matter where and when the tickets were purchased.I was supposed to pay Rs.1220/adult ticket and about Rs 700 for an infant. We paid a lil over Rs 3000 for 2 adults and an infant at the time the boarding passes were issued. It is a form of Pakistan airport tax.No one is exempt from it.
It is not Rs 11,000 for sure. They even have a breakdown of the Rs 1220 they are taking, although I do not rememeber exactly but it is for civil aviation services and maintenance and stuff like that.
Those are the taxes that come with the ticket. The taxes the OP is talking about is just Pakistan airport taxes and have nothing to do with any airline.

wrong. not all the taxes/surcharges in that price are Airline taxes. It includes airport security fee, airport convenience fee etc etc
^^I meant those are the taxes you pay at the time you purchase the ticket..hence I said 'come with the ticket',and are inclusive of services provided by both the airline and the airports.
The new taxes 'seem' to be exclusively for the Paksitan airports. As of now they are being collected at the time of issuing boarding passes.
**well, sometimes new airport taxes in the guise of aviation charges/surcharges/revovation fee etc. it sounds like too much money in Pakistani Rupees but it comes to only $13.75 Canadian/US per person which is quite reasonable. the extra fee itself may be unreasonable though.
yes, these days they airlines, especially the travel agents, try to mask their charges under "taxes/surcharges" in order to keep the advertised price of tickets lower to attract travelers.
isii liye urdu meN kahte haiN k jitne kaa sonaa nahiiN usse ziyaada gaRhaaii yaa nau kii lakRii 90 Kharch lol
this is a good thing. anybody who can afford a ticket will be able to pay these taxes. I just hope the money they are collecting actually is used to improve the airports.
