Another Muslim unduly harrased at airports. An innocent Iraqi man wishing to do nothing more sinister than enlarge his penis whilst on holiday with his mother and 2 children found himself in court facing a charge of felony disorderly conduct and up to three years in prison if convicted.
His suspicious behavior that led to his arrest? Whispering to an airport security guard that the small, black, squeezable rubber object in his hand baggage was a “pump” (penis pump) - which the paranoid guard took to be “bomb”. (Arabic has no sound for the letter “p”, and many native arabic speakers pronouce “p” as “b”, ie “Pepsi” sounds like “Bebsi”)
Prosecutors dropped all charges Wednesday against a man who claimed an airport security guard misheard him as saying he had a bomb when he told her he was carrying a sexual device in his backpack.
Mardin Amin, who appeared in a Cook County court, has said he told the guard at O’Hare International Airport last month that the object was a pump'' - as in a penis pump. The guard misunderstood him as saying bomb,‘’ his attorney has said.
Prosecutors chose to follow the lead of the Transportation Safety Administration, which recently concluded that the matter did not warrant prosecution, said Cook County state’s attorney spokesman John Gorman.
Amin, 29, of suburban Chicago, had been charged with felony disorderly conduct and faced up to three years in prison if convicted.
His attorney, Eileen O’Neill-Burke, did not immediately return a message Wednesday.
She explained earlier that her client was embarrassed to explain the object to the security guard in front of his mother, who was traveling with him - so he whispered.
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
Is a penis pump haram?
Why would he be pumping his penis when on vacation with his kids and mom?
If the guard didn't know what it was and it sounded like he said 'bomb', do we really have to do the moaning and groaning about 'undue Musilm harrassment'? Gimme a break.
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
^ about 3: The guard could've called bomb squad and little investigation could've revealed the misunderstanding, but I guess its tough for some people.
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
You don't know that. If anyone said they had a bomb (or guard *thought *they said had a bomb), they probably would have been treated the same. I have known of people (gora) who were arrested for making such statements.
I am not of the politically correct type that thinks an Iraqi at an American airport should not receive closer scrutiny than a gora grandmother anyway. But this sounds like a misunderstanding based on a language barrier and his shame to call it what it was - a benis bump - not on being Muslim.
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
with all these muslims being involved in plots to blow up airlines.....
it just goes in the psyche of the workers at the airport.....
I am not questioning him getting alarmed by the mispronounciation of 'bumb', but the way it was handled, I don't think it was necessary to take the case to the court and cause all that hoopla. All they could've done is to call bomb squad, search the bag and in absence of a bomb inquire him what he was talking about. Makes sense? Or do you want guards to hang him upside down right away, call press conference (or media reps), jail him, prosecute him for few weeks/months/years then end up freeing him? Who is paying for all that unnecessary drama? Me and other tax-paying Americans.
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
My father was arrested back in the 80's for jokingly saying that it was a good thing he left his gun at home when going through airport security with some colleagues. They all pleaded down to lesser charges and were given community service. They were just on a business trip, and were joking around, although I dont' know why. I think it's a federal offense to even jokingly say that you have a gun or bomb in an airport. So while he may have been misunderstood, a gora in the same situation would have been treated the same.

No only in christianity sex is frowned upon, even with one's wife and only missionary position is permited after obtaining a special permit from the priest, one is taught to be ashamed of their private parts...
Re: Airport "Bomb Whisperer" case dropped by US court
Now if they had done that, then how would FBI show great progress in fighting terrorism in their metrics charts...or how would bhoosh claim in his speeches all those cells he has busted...
