Airplane Food

Do ever remember eating a great or even good tasting meal on a flight? If so, which airline?

So far in my own experience, Air Canada, Air France, Al-Italia, KLM and PIA were horrible - I remember eating the fruit and the rolls (if offered).

Emirates was okay - but still not stellar.

Tell about your own experiences.

Re: Airplane Food

ive only been on pia everytime ive been its same old stuff chicken biryani and the rest of the food is yuck they need to change their menu

Re: Airplane Food

Qatar is ok.

Re: Airplane Food

singapore and malaysian airlines.. droolworthy meals. except for the leg of the flight that loads up from the US. -_-

Re: Airplane Food

PIA! Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuumy. I already had my dinner before leaving for my flight but the food was so tempting i ate again and it was only a 3 hrs flight. Hehe. But who can resist prawns? I definately can't.

Re: Airplane Food

Airline folks say that they are not into restaurant industry. They serve food just to take care of hungry travelers , they are not a gourmet service.

Re: Airplane Food

PIA served Prawns? Thats a new one

Ever since I remember PIA have ALWAYS offered the same horrible biryani and kheer kind of dessert (which is probably made of 6 Pints Milk Bottle and 5 kG rice in it), On my last flight to Pakistan in May they gave water in empty coca cola bottles

Emirates food is quite nice and same with Qatar, Gulf used to open their Kitchen and passengers would have as much fruit as they wanted…Don’t know if they still do it :bummer:

Re: Airplane Food

The best airline meal I had was on an Emirates flight, DXB to London, it was in business class (that probably explains why!)...it was like being in a fancy restaraunt with white glove waiter service...lol!

Re: Airplane Food

I like the chocolate icing sponge cakes that PIA sometimes have.

Re: Airplane Food

Turkish Airlines does the nicest plane food by far... the only times I've ever finished the complete meals when flying..

Re: Airplane Food

Emirates I like!

Re: Airplane Food

 prawns? I mean how and when did they serve that kind of food? hmm you were lucky because they mostly serve some fixed food items everytime. for instance; matar pulao with chicken masala type of thing and also biryai sometimes plus a salad. gulab jaman or kheer or egg pudding as dessert and also a muffin with butter. I won’t say anything about the quality I believe they serve a good quantity.

Re: Airplane Food

There were not only prawns but some desi dish 2 and some chinese one and in total they had around 5-6 items and all were super delicious and its not the typical packed lunch/dinner, they serve you however much u want and however many times u want it. It was an upgraded seat thats why the different menu i suppose?

Kabhi kabhaar khao tou iss he tarah mazaidaar lagtay hain :cb:

Re: Airplane Food

Allah ka shukr hai

Re: Airplane Food

Emirates, JAL and THAI were better ones.

PIA and continental, AA were probably the worse.

Re: Airplane Food

Jet Airways, Air India, Singapore Airlines, Cathay and Kingfisher have good food on their Intercontinental flights, SriLankan & Thai have great food on their Asian routes.

The food served on Domestic routes in India really sucks, however there used to be a domestic airline 'Damania', they probably served the best food. On a short 40 min flight between Bombay & Goa they would serve you a full meal including a starter, a salad, a main course, dessert, cheese & crakers, butter and roll, pickle and papad, yogurt, after mint chocolate, tea / coffee along with 2 - 3 pints of beer. I remember a number of occasions when they would circle over the airport, just because they had not finished collecting back the food trays!!! (Guess, that's why they went bankrupt, too good for the party to last forever)
