Airline standards

Its 5500 Rs one-way or 1100 Rs for round trip in business class.

Re: resturant in karachi

oh...OMG it's so expensive...why would someone take the train while with a little more he/she can fly...it's outrageously pricey.

In India, same distance travel costs Rs 3500 in FIRST AC, the highest class of service in Rajdhani, the fastest and the most prestigious train of India.

Re: resturant in karachi

Convert 3500 INR to PKR, its more than 5500

And I have traveled in business class for 5500 and I was more than satisfied. The journey is comfortable, AC works great, cleanest restrooms with janitorial staff present all the time, charging point for laptops or mobiles, internet works great throughout the journey except for few remote places, food is great, maintains time, Good entertainment on LCD.

Re: resturant in karachi

The flights are significantly more expensive.

Re: resturant in karachi

you don't convert foreign currency when you live in a country. you are NOT buying tickets overseas.

how much more expensive? i think Pakistan is extremely expensive. the round trip airfare from mumbai to lucknow via Delhi costs Rs 8492 on air india. so, it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper.

Re: resturant in karachi

I just made a quick check on random dates (off-season). Round trip Lahore-Karachi-Lahore in February would cost PKR 13600. That is approx. INR 8000. So it's actually quite similar to India.

Re: resturant in karachi

i checked too and it's one way without taxes...the total cost for a round trip KHI-LHE-KHI is Rs. 35225...

...i still think that it's living expenses in Pakistan are too high...right?

Re: resturant in karachi

No. The PKR 13600 are for a roundtrip including taxes. Where did you check?

Re: resturant in karachi

PIA reservation site…it’s Rs 13300 ONE way without taxes for feb 1 to feb 21 and the total at the bottom shows Rs 35225 and that’s the** LOWEST fare** available.

Re: resturant in karachi

well, these are cut-rate airlines which aren't that safe and/or their services are at par with aviation industry standards...they cut corners to make the fares cheaper. you get what you pay for...i don't know much but that's what my assumptions are. am i right?

Re: resturant in karachi

I’ve traveled with Airblue multiple times over the last few years and never felt unsafe. On a recent PIA flight I did. That whole flight was incredibly bumby and the landing was quite scary too.

Yes, Airblue had that one horrible crash a few years ago, but generally speaking I don’t think PIA is much safer. They’re just more expensive.

Sorry about going :offtopic:. This is my last reply on this topic for KKF and makd. The thread about airline standards in T&T is a good idea.

Airline standards

Opening this thread as a result of the discussion in this one:

http://www.paklinks.com/gs/travel-and-tourism/588858-resturant-in-karachi-3.html

So the question that is posed here is:

Do low-fare carriers compromise on safety? Or do they just reduce other services/charge extra for them, etc.?

The recent case of Ryanair messing around with the total weight of their planes in order to save airport fees comes to mind.

On the other hand: The whole business model of low-fare carriers depends on their planes being full. So if they’d have a reputation of messing around with safety they’d endanger that business model. Wouldn’t they?

Re: Airline standards

I don’t think so tht they compromise on safety,i think low fare carriers either don’t give food or allow less weight to carry :hmmm:

Re: Airline standards

We just flew on Spirit Airlines this past summer (Dallas--->San Diego), it was my first time flying on the low cost, no frills airline and I did not had any issues. Yes, I was more conservative and light on packing for the trip, because we were paying for each piece of luggage, regardless if it was checked in or a hand carry, but for our family of 5, the savings on airfare helped us do more on our vacation.

I have a lot of family members who regularly travel alone and have started using Spirit Airways because you can go round trip for less than $200....

Oh, and as far as safety goes, my pilot husband was satisfied!

Re: Airline standards

I agree with both of you. I don't think low-fare carriers are any less safe than "established" ones. Looking at the plane crashes in the recent past also suggests that, with the Bhoja crash being an exception. That really was down to compromises they made on safety and criminal negligence.
