I have flown JFK - KHI on a yearly basis primarily with PIA. Last year when I went, I didn’t like the return flight through Manchester.
So this year I’m trying to decide whether to try Emirates, Etihad or Qatar. I tried Etihad a few years back and the connection at Abu Dhabi was terrible. That aiport has a weird low ceiling and we couldn’t find a seat to sit on. I don’t know if its gotten better.
Has anyone flown recently from JFK using any of these airlines? I would love all feedback.
you have a very limited choice of airlines serving Pakistan from Europe and the Americas but as Umer Bhai mentioned, Emirates is the best among those three. Emirates is not the best always.
you may try Malaysian Airlines...it's good but the journey is a little longer because you have to do quite a bit of back-tracking. they operate through Kuala Lumpur.
i never fly with them to India because on the return there is an overnight layover involved which is NOT acceptable to most passengers. i wonder who flies with them with that kind of connection.
Thank you guys. It seems like Emirates has the shortest connection. Do they use the Airbus A-380-800 or the Boeing airliners for that leg?
u r welcome.
between JFK and Dubai, it's A380-800 and A-330-200 between Dubai and Karachi.
Emirates it is then! :)
may be but check the layover time on the return portion of your journey. as i said in my earlier post, we have to wait about 12 hours [at night!] from Delhi/Bombay to connect to our flight to Toronto.
It looks like the return layover is about 1.5 hours (the lowest I have seen anywhere). Both legs are connecting flights.
The reason I'm not happy about PIA (return flight) is because once you board from KHI , they make you get off the plane at LHE , and then you have to wait in the lounge for about an hour or two. So essentially its actually 2 stops on the return flight.

oh yes, i can understand this non senseical practice. waiting in the lounge is better than waiting in the plane on the tarmac which i had to endure in London's Heathrow Airport where my Air India flight from Delhi had stopped on my way to Toronto...the toilets were a mess, no food, it was hot inside and they won't even let you out of the plane...90 min was hell. i haven't flown Air India since...
...now, i may because they've direct non-stop flights to and from Delhi. it's ONLY 15 hours and you are home! :)
I've traveled on an Emirates A380. It's amazing!
really? yeah, i guiess so...i've yet to fly on these magnificent flying machines. were you seated on the upper deck? i've one more question...was it the basic version aircraft where it can seat upwards of 800 people? sice it's a huge aircraft, was it a little too crowded at the gate at the time of boarding? was the immigration processing delayed at destination due to shear number of passenger this big bird carries.
i'm going to India next month iA and i'll be flying on the Air India's Dreamliner ** between Delhi and Bombay on my way to New Zealand...i'll report on my experiences iA :)**

Re your questions:
Yes I was seated at the upper deck, ie Business Class.
I don't know which version it was.
It was crowded in the waiting area, but they managed the boarding quite well. It was done in phases and they had seperate access tunnel for the different areas on the aircraft.
Destination was Jeddah where immigration clearing is always slow. Doesn't matter whether you arrive on a big or small plane. :)**
