Re: Airfares gone down

despite of fuel prices being reduced now,no airlines have decreased their fares as such..

Re: Airfares gone down

Re: Airfares gone down

Airfares have definitely gone down, but obviously not to the same level as the drop in fuel prices. Airlines are in a financial pinch, but also realize that with a down economy ppl will stop travelling to save costs, so they need to incentivize passengers. Airlines have already cut down on most services (extra charges for checked bags, sodas, food, headsets etc). Many airlines have cut down flights on several routes. Still I think in the next few months some more airlines in the US will either go out of business or will merge/get acquired. With reduced competition, airlines will have less incentive to reduce fare.

ps. I have talked to many of my friends and most companies have completely stopped all avoidable air travel. Approval for travel is now given at much higher levels in organizations. And business travel (last minute bookings) was always the most profitable part of airlines revenues. This is not looking good for airlines.

Air fares have gone back up again.. :)
