airfare to Pakistan

I m planning on going to Pakistan for two weeks in July. The agency I checked with quoted $1700 with Emirates from NY-LHR. Am I paying too much?

i went last year on pia...it cost me $ 1200....from ny to lahore.....but i dont know this yr's fares and usually they r a bit more in summers.....when it is a busy season....my friend went earlier this year on kuwait airlines.....check them out too......

I know that PIA has a two tiered rates during the summer, where the fares drop a bit in July. The $1700 quote sounds like its on the high side.

$1700 is very high- i think PIA before the 19 of july is around $1400 or max $1500 after that it goes down to abt 1200 or 1100 but if u have family going than they give 10% discount on each ticket (i think 4 people or more- or maybe 5)

I am flying Virgin Atlantic-Emirates from San Francisco to Pakistan (with stop-overs in London and Dubai) and paying about $1700. This is peak period price with travel between June 9 and mid-July. After mid-July, prices go down a bit.

However, since you are flying from New York, so the prices should be about $300 cheaper, then again I booked 3 months ago, and you are booking now. Some times cheaper fare seats go quickly.

I heard that PIA raised their fare and currently 1700 is the price.

My sister is going through emirates as well... in July too... she is going to stay over in dubai for good 15 days and then to Pakistan ..

her ticket costed her $1380. This is peak time travel in jackson heights right above habib bank... :p

she is flying from NY as well

I just bought PIA ticket from NewYork to Karachi for $1650.
Fares drop by $300 if you fly after July 21st.

When exactly do the fares drop? I was looking into flying in mid-August, but Emirates is currently quoting about $1700 for the ticket from JFK-ISB, but it was around $1100 for the same ticket last month.

Will fares drop again in mid-July for the August flights?

My cousin paid 1500 for travel in mid-July (kansas city to Karachi).

However, I don't understand this variation in tax on tickets? Any ideas?

I just got a qoute from http:\justfares of $1300 on emirates for August flights, the peak season. The same trip is $1390 on PIA through a travel agent in NY. I am flying from Boston to Karachi.

I paid $1695... but be sure to get your free PIA domestic ticket along with it(destination of your choice), usually the agents dont give it to you...
