Air Swiss to karachi

Does anyone know for sure if Air Swiss flies to pakistan (karachi) anymore. It should according to their route map, but each booking attempt routes me via Middle East with a stop-over and a switch to different airline. I may have to call them, but if anyone knows the answer, in the meantime, that would be great. Although, it would really suck if it doesn’t, since it’s virtually impossible to find a non-stop flight from europe to pakistan…

Outty, I guess PIA doesn't stop anywhere and flies straight from Manchester to Pakistan.
As far as Swiss Airlines is concerned, it stops at Dubai for an hour or two. I totally forgot that I flew via Swiss to Netherlands this summer. Khair, maybe someone else can help, don't have much information at this point.

Outty, there's a non-stop (PIA) flight from Amsterdam to Karachi-Lahore-Islamabad (twice a week if I'm correct.)
Not sure about Swiss Air though

thanks ladies.

minerva, did you take swiss from karachi?
PIA won't work as it doesn't serve the Canadian west coast.

jee Outty, I took Swiss from Karachi. :--)

Swiss stopped direct flights to Pakistan after September 11.

The only airlines operating direct flights from Europe to Pakistan as far as I know, are:

PIA - from London, Manchester, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Milan, etc.
British Airways - from London to Islamabad

That's it.

Any travel agents recommendations anyone? I plan on going from Kansas City to Karachi in December. So far haven't got any price quote under $1550.

Outlaw

I took swiss air month or two ago.

I flew from Boston to Zurich, 3 hour lay over, then Zurich to Dubai, 1 hour lay over and then to karachi.

I thought swiss is going to provide excellent service, unfortunatley that was not the case and I should also mention that Zurich airport is being renovated and looks and feels like a dump.

Emirates has a new flight that I will take next time, New York to London and then London to Karachi. This might be the fastest 'Quality' option. PIA is the fastest but does lack some quality.

Regards

Thanks Boston, and others. I found it convenient since it gets you to Pakistan in a decent amount of time, and I just hate long lay-overs at airports during connecting flights. It does fly to Pakistan, but only three or four times a week. The days on which it doesn't fly, you get the option to fly on another airline from Middle East.

I am still undecided whether to take Cathay Pacific - which is the most efficient one while traveling from Vancouver, or spend couple of days in switzerland, and take swiss.

MO?? you might want to drive to chicago and catch PIA from there...what date are you traveling on though?

The fastest from Chicago is Turkish Airlines

Chicago - Istanbul - Karachi

I travelled on Turkish Airlines several times, because it is the cheapest way to get from Vienna to Karachi.

But the airline is crap. That's why I spending a few Euros more this time and will fly on Emirates.

Yeah but I didn’t want to do the driving. Oh well, I finally got a seat thru good old PIA. I am travelling on Dec 18th which is a peak season I am told. Ended up paying even more than 1550 because I wasted time shopping around :bummer:
