I travel to DC area often and the last time I traveled was in December last year. I remember paying something around $280s for a direct flight. Now from the past month the same flights are $421. I don’t remember such a hike last year in summer … Or maybe I wasn’t paying attention.
It can’t be just the gas prices making the prices go up 50%. I thought there was so much competition in the US domestic market that the prices were to stay low for at least a couple of bankruptcies.
not much of a price hike of any. BA have been increasing prices with a fuel surcharge around £10-20 a ticket comapred to last year. Budget airlines I dont think they have increased faires decided to absorb the costs.
Well. Almost all airlines here in Europe have started charging a fuel surcharge. For short flights (less than 2 hours) it's around 7 to 10 €, for long distance flights it's up to 40 €. However the fuel surcharges of the low-cost carriers like Ryanair, Air Berlin, etc. are far lower than those of the "traditional" airlines. So they beat them not only with their lower fares, but also with the lower surcharges.
