this room in my house with servers is getting really hot.. and i need to buy a window air conditioner… i think the room is less then 150 Sq Feet.. Anyone know of someone selling an air conditioner? Or what to look for when buying one?
I'd give you an extra one I have for free, but alas you are way far. No idea what brands are good. Why dont you look for a used one? Like at garage sales, or look up ads in papers or online websites where they sell used a/c's in your area.
How many exterior walls? How many facing north? Is the ceiling higher than 8ft? Is there an attic on top? Are you on the first floor or do you have a roof exposed to direct sunlight? Any open doors in your room? any kitchen openings? Any heavy appliances or large bulbs running in the room?
Be prepared to answer all these questions before some online site recommends the capacity of A/C that will suit your needs... For less than 150 sq. ft you may need something around 5200 btu's.
Better A/C have EER (energy efficiency ratings) of over 10. Most new models are above that.. although some are 9.7.. for ever decrease of a point your annual cost increases roughly by 20% (there is a calculation involved with your electricity providers rate).
Recommended brands.. LG .. top of the pack and very quiet.
Other brands to look out for.. Fedders, Whirlpool and Kenmore.
