Aircon turns up the city heat | Climate News Network
In Phoenix half the electricity consumption is for cooling during summer. The ACs dump heat into the city. During day the temp is high enough. So apparently people don’t feel it. But at night the 1 deg C increase has an impact.
This goes back to our theme - the well heeled can live in the comforts of their ac cooled home. The flop side is they are decreasing the comfort of those who can’t afford ac.
Efforts r underway to capture waste heat from ac and use it for heating water etc.
