Hey guppies,

just wanted input from ppl who have experienced both, airbrush v/s traditional.. which is better? I m looking for options for my wedding make up need to shortlist make up artist… looking for a better insight on this..

I don't think one is better than the other, It all depends on the occasion and in your case it's your wedding day, so of course there will be a photo shoot? you will want to look special on your big day, so I would highly recommend airbrush, since there is hardly any touch-up with it's application, if you have oily/combination you might need to blot couple of times thru the evening, but your makeup will surely stay put in place, It will give a nice smooth flawless coverage :) Oh and another thing, I'm not sure where you live but here in north America MUA charge $100-$150 'more' for airbrush makeup for weddings, so keep that in mind, it will cost you more that then the regular makeup

Thanks Royal gala I heard that it gives less to medium coverage so just taking feedback from the experienced ones. I have combination skin and acne scars :bummer:

Does air brush give that kind of coverage, I am also considering a few sessions of peeling prior the big day lets see where it takes me :slight_smile:
oh & btw does air brush give that whitish look in the pictures??

From my understanding the coverage is buildable, you can go from medium to full without any problem or looking cakey, liquid or cream foundations can seep thru the pores and can make the scars/wrinkles appear more visible, perhaps getting a peel would be beneficial, but also keep exfoliating at home when you wash your face especially at night/morning hours, As for the ghost whitish look, I have never seen it in any of my pictures, I actually love how my pictures turn out when I wear airbrush and I also have oily/combination skin :slight_smile:

I use both

With airbrush, I enjoy the smooth finish...its super even, feels like nothing and doesn't fade!

I use it on people with super dry skin, acneic skin and on people who may not need a lot of coverage at all.

The coverage is buildable...it can be sheer to full...just depends on what you need.

thanks reha..maybe prior my wedding i will try both air brush/traditional and see which one is better...the only m bothered is the coverage and the whitish look the traditional gives in the pictures... rest i have googled air brushed make overs few of them look amazing and few are a total turn off. i guess it all depends on the experience of the artist you are going to..isn't it?

Every MUA prefers certain brands and techniques because of how well they have learned to manipulate these two things.

I'd look for an experienced MUA who can deliver the look you want.

Many people who use cream/liquid don't give the white cast you're referring to. Just let them know you want the makeup to be an exact match and not lighter.

Also, do a trial.

I think airbrush would be better. One of my friend's sister had airbrush makeup done on her wedding and it even covered a large mole on her face. And it didn't look ashy or anything. Just imagine if it could cover a mole, how well it will cover dark spots, dark circles, etc!

For your wedding airbrush would be better. It's much lighter in person but much more flawless in photos. Try and get a trial for both.

I think it also depends on the quality of the foundation makeup. I have used Estee Lauder double coverage foundations in the past [during my bad skin days] and they are AMAZING. Try one if you do get a chance. It feels totally smooth and flawless. But then again, not all foundations are flawless.

As for the airbrush, I use the MAC Airbrush System and it works wonders. Airbrush is one of the neatest make up technologies I've encountered so far. It always looks wonderful in pictures, I've had many photo shoots [all of them in airbrush makeup]. The good part is, you can always layer up to obtain the amount of coverage you want. My skin is totally clear, but using airbrush makes it completely impeccable. For "big occasions" always use airbrush. Go with the foundations on your regular, unimportant days.

If you later, plan on buying an airbrush, it will require some practice. Airbrush usage is somewhat a struggle in the beginning and you have to watch tutorials to figure out how to get the look you want. It requires some practice atleast a week or two, and after a while, becomes very simple to use.
