Aik aur nazm--Parvin Shakir

Only a woman could write with such intensity about the pain which is so gender-specific.

Muqaddar-- Parvin Shakir

MaiN woh larki hooN
Jisko pehli raat
Koi ghuNghat utha kay yeh keh day–
Mera sub kuch tera hai,dil kay siwa

PERVEEN SHAKIR::::
She was a women with qualities unlimited. Having topped the Civil Service of Pakistan…she became a legend at that relatively tender age—and rose to become one of the most profilic poetess of Indo-Pak subcontinent. So much meaning, so much chrisma, so much longing her poetry carried that anyone with a teeny weeny bit of poetic sense–got mesmerized.

She was like a daughter to my father (Jamiluddin Aali) who demonstrated and practically observed—a chieftan role on her. I remember when she came to Abu Dhabi for a Mushaira…my dad called me from Karachi to ensure that I receive her at the airport and that she stays with our family. When she landed and saw me–she smilingly said “Baba Ka Order?”.

I can never forget that wonderful wonderful lady—who left many bewildred on her such early exit from this world.

ALLAH…Perveen Shakir Ki Rooh Ko Kurwat Kurwat Jannat Naseeb Karay (A’meen)
