Can Nawaz government be the Pakistan government?

Call for taking up Bangladesh war crime trials with UN - Pakistan - DAWN.COM
TAHIR SIDDIQUI — MAR 19, 2016

KARACHI: The federal government has been asked to take up the matter of so-called Bangladesh war crime trials with the United Nations and organise an international conference in London and Washington on miscarriage of justice to create awareness regarding the violation of various provisions of international human rights treaties.
These suggestions and recommendations were made at the first ever workshop on “Legal Aspects of Bangladesh War Crimes Trials”, organised by a leading legal think tank, the Research Society of International Law (RSIL), at a hotel on Friday.
..

the purpose of this workshop was to legally assess serious flaws in the process of prosecution and, “notwithstanding our effort to improve relations with Bangladesh, there is nothing wrong in bringing to the notice of the government of Bangladesh the legal concerns that are not only Pakistan’s but also shared by the international community and NGOs”.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Under what morality are we telling bangladesh to f**k off? Don’t we accept their govt hence saying that anyone who sided with pakistan against mukti bahini was wrong? Can someone please explain me the logic?

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Jamat e Islami and love for Pakistan. Still confused.

JI Bangladesh leaders being punished for having love for Pakistan: Siraj

Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq says leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh are being punished because of their love for Pakistan.

He was speaking in Islamabad on Friday after offering Namaz-e-Janaza in absentia of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh leader Mir Quasem Ali, who was executed yesterday.
Special prayers were also offered for the departed soul.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

what have these mullahs given to people anyway?
they don’t even know or follow what the Quran says. They pick and choose what suits them to get their personal agendas fulfilled

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Not ppp but ZAB. It was the 2nd biggest mistake of ZAB to bring these war criminals back to the country without trials of war crimes. The first one was siding with dictator for not handing over power to Sh Mujib. He would have been still alive had he not committed these mistakes. Under Bengali rule Pakistan would have been prospered and progressed like India.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

@muqawwee
You have repeatedly called the slain person rapist.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

While I do not know of the evidence against this person, this is an article co wrong trial of a previous similar case.
The politicalisation of Bangladesh’s war crimes tribunal - Al Jazeera English

It shows there was the whole affair is just vendetta and nothing about justice.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

can you tell me what should have been done with the 90k army man, they had families and loved ones in Pakistan. It was not their fault that they were thrown into a situation where they could not have won. Shame on you for calling them bahgoreys.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Well, I did not think like you. They were under command of higher up. It was not their decision to surrender. A bad decision from a COA, put the whole army at stake.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

I haven’t identify any individual as rapist. I just said that the Badr o Shams members involved in (helping) atrocities, which include rapes.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

i misread ‘laTkaa’ as ‘laRkaa’ phir apnaa sar peeT liyaa! my bad!

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Seems no one in pakistan taking this issue seriously. Even the JI .

These people what ever crime they did were all dissolved after 1973 act for war crime. In 2009 Awami league ammended this act mainly to target their political opponents.
JI was against creatiion of pakistan also but now they are consider equal pakistani as a muslim league / pak supporter of that time.

This is pure political victamization but every one is silent. If pakistan does not talk abt it in UN than who else will do it. ???

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Japaese in Iwojima had no chance either but they faugt and died! These 90K so called soldiers should have done the same, should have fought and died like other Armies in world do… alas when opponent is armed unlike elected Govts, Pakistan’s finest become cowards .

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Most probably! Under any rule that was elected by majority, Pak would be better. That’s why I blame ZAB alongside Army elite of Pak problems.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

It is so funny that those who do not know the background of Pakistani surrender in East Pakistan, talks about that.

Fact is entirely different. Fact is that, India wanted to stall the war in East Pakistan while their forces were advancing in West Pakistan. India wanted that India destroys West Pakistan and make Pakistan surrenders in West Pakistan, so that they can break whole Pakistan. Russia was also behind India.

Anyhow, it was due to Nixon warning to Russia of third world war if West Pakistan falls, and Yahya ordering Niazi to surrender in East Pakistan so that war stops and West Pakistan can be saved, that Pakistan forces surrendered in East Pakistan.

Again, 90000 armed forces surrendered is wrong figure. Actual figure is around 35000 to 40000 armed forces, and remaining were civilians.

So, you cannot say that forces in East Pakistan were any less patriotic, coward or whatever, but for that, blame Bhutto, who for his political ambition and desire to be Prime Minister of Pakistan, pushed Pakistan in situation where whole future of Pakistan became questionable.

One can also blame Yahya and establishment of that time, who supported Bhutto in his ambition.

As for Niazi, he surrendered because he was ordered to surrender from high command in West Pakistan, even though India had advanced very little in East Pakistan. Most lands Pakistan has lost during 1971 war was in west Pakistan, and Pakistan was loosing fast on western front.

As far as I know, India wanted to dissect Pakistan rail tracks (south of Sukkar), that connected Karachi (only port at the time) with Punjab, to stop any oil and foreign aid reaching north, main battle grounds of Punjab, expecting that in this way they (Indians) would make Pakistan military collapse. Indian forces were half way towards dissecting these rail tracks when ceasefire happened.

It is after 1971 war, Pakistan realized and built parallel rail tracks between Karachi and Sukkar from west side of Indus.

In 1971 (and until Pakistan made rail track west of Indus), there was no Rail tracks west of Indus, and all trains had to cross to east of Indus from Kotri, Passing through Hyderabad towards Sukker … and then Punjab.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Leftist secular govt in Bangladesh has some serious teeth… Dont think anyone needs to be hanged however, but boy, they mean business in Bangladesh. Wish the Leftists govts had shown the same metal in Pakistan instead cowering before the religious right.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

The hanging of Mir Quasem Ali - Newspaper - DAWN.COM

spot on. Pakistan needs introspection rather than indulging in other’s matters in the name of so called ideologies.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Hmm OK, would you also condone all MQM members be hanged for target killings and atrocities committed by MQM or do you think each individual should be tried for the crimes he has participated in.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

In which post of mine did I denied fair trial to JI leaders? If we got right to call MQM a fascist party due to actions of their members (on which their leadership is either silent or deny that they did such crimes after they were not part of the party), why can’t one highlight JI’s role in atrocities that were committed to Bengalis where Badr o Shams played major role?

I have yet to find JI’s leadership issuing a statement for apology to Bengalis for such atrocities. They are still hell bent to say what happened in East Pakistan (during 1971 operation) was because of safety of so called two nations theory and JI’s love for Pakistan.

Re: Aik aur latka diya Hasina nay…

Why this has to be about JI? It is bcoz Pakistani liberals just cannot get to condemn these trials just bcoz JI leaders are associated with it. If Christians can condemn it why it had to be only JI in Pak? Had the society at large condemned if you would not see prominence of JI in this issue.

BTW how much have you researched or read about the role of these outfits in the war?

Have you also shed any tears for civilians killed by Bengali militias for being Biharis?
