Was this aid money used to grow vegetables in lavish farmhouses, or was it used to buy luxury learjets?
WASHINGTON: Nearly six billion US dollars provided by the US to Pakistan to fight against terrorism since the September 9, 2001 attacks on America has little been used for that purpose, an independent audit has found.
The findings by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) released in a report on Tuesday showed a troubling lack of oversight and accountability for the US funds to Pakistan that were meant to combat terrorism.
According to findings, there were lack of oversight of two billion of dollars that have been doled out in Pakistan in an effort to fight terrorism.
The US has provided Pakistan about USD 5.6 billion in payments since 2001 attacks on World Trade Centre, which killed more than 3000 people.
The GAO found several cases where the Bush Administration could not explain or account for such payments, including millions of dollars for road construction with no evidence that any roads were built, and reimbursement costs to the Pakistan military that may be duplicative.
Re: Aid money to Pakistan mismaged by Musharraf - US Accountability Office
I agree that the money was not spent wisely on anti-terrorism equipment and training to fight jihadi terrorists, but was more focused on anti-india weapon systems. This is typical of establishment thinking on the army's part.
You mean Mush. He(creator of Pakistani Taliban) is responsible for all these jehadis taking over Peshawar.
Well Taliban ("Pakistani" or Afghnistani) were created long before Musharraf. Pakistan retreated from Afghanistan in 2001 and many of them back fired and ofcourse they being Pakistani had to end up in Pakistan.

Do you lie in all of your posts or just some of them? Godfathers of taliban are your heroes nasrullah babar, zia-ul-haq, hamid gul, osama bin laden among others.
ISLAMABAD- Transparency International Global Corruption (TIGC) Report 2008 Wednesday revealed that President Pervez Musharraf has converted army-granted farmland worth US$690,000 in Islamabad into US$10.34 million of moveable assets.
According to the TIGC Report 2008 analysis," the scale of the inroads made by the military into ‘civilian’ sectors of Pakistan’s economy, including land, construction, property, manufacturing, fertilizers, agriculture, road building, trucking etc; and that full generals enjoy individual wealth in excess of US$8.3 million,"
TI Pakistan conducted its second National Corruption Perceptions Survey from April to July 2006, indicating that the majority of respondents were of the view that corruption in Pakistan in the last three years increased by 100 per cent.
but this aid money was managed by musharraf, i wonder what that senile dictator did with it, this is on the lines of zia-ul-haq and we all know what happened to him. its mushy’s turn now
its because of this senile dictator that we saw 2007 as the bloodiest year in the history of the country with unprecedented terrorism. Its time to off that dictating pig.
Re: Aid money to Pakistan mismaged by Musharraf - US Accountability Office
I don't believe Musharraf was the creator of Taliban, but he sure as hell did milk that US CashCow while it lasted in the name of fighting extremism, even at the cost of imprisoning, torturing, jailing, and shipping out Pakistanis.
I do believe Musharraf & Co. are very responsible for the mismanagement of the funds. A few months back people had their doubts that the scandals would start emerging after the elections. Well, here we are......
The dirty laundry's being piled on the floor for all to see.
Had those millions and billions of dollars been spent on infrastructure, electricity development, education, well-being of common folks, PML(Q) would be the chosen party today. But, it's not. Instead of investing in the people, the previous govt. invested in themselves just like all the govts. before. Musharraf and his cronies are not worthy of political saintship under any circumstances.
Musharraf adopted all the wrong policies, he was the one and only person running the country on his own, Parliament held no importance to him, there were no debates on foreign and domestic policy.
Re: Aid money to Pakistan mismaged by Musharraf - US Accountability Office
its quite astonishing that if that reflects reality, they why US issue another grant to Pakistan after this so called report??? anyone care to explain.

Maybe because Musharraf isnt the one in power anymore. Also, they wouldnt stop giving aid even if it was mismanaged, remember the similar mismanagement by Mr. Zia (Musharrafs coup brother)

So.. what your saying is that the governments including (PMLQ) never invested anything into infrastructure, electricity developments, etc, or invested in themselves more than these social & economic sectors? Is that what you are saying?
I've never seen so much ignorance on this forum.

List all the wrong policies please.
I'm waiting.
Every other anti-mush person on this forum blames him for wrong/failed policies, yet is incapable of listing even one of them.

Because, despite what many guppies think, the Great USA is a friend of Pakistan. May god bless the continued USA/Pakistan. Ameen. Ronay walon ko ronay do. :)
