Re: ...Ahadees...
Alm u Alhdees is proper subject, which is offered in many Islamic universities around the world, which sets up proper guidelines on how to handle Ahadees. If you really want to discuss some of the ahdees of the holy prophet it would be proper if you mention the one, which create doubts in your mind.

Re: ...Ahadees...
Thanks for enlightening me.
I searched for urdu ahadees online but couldn't find many books.
I am in US, does anyone know of any website that sells Ahadees or other books in Urdu, preferably in USA? If you do, please post the link here or PM me. Thanks
Re: …Ahadees…
It’s not Sunan Ibn Majah’s collection the website offers but a partial Sunan Abu Dawud and a complete collection of Imam Malik’s Muwatta.
Please note that out of Ibn Majah’s 4341 Hadiths, it cotains 99 Dhaeef Hadiths and a severeal hundered (I think) Marfu Hadiths. As a result no one should be using it here until it’s authenticity can be established.
Also visit www.islamistan.net for some of the other collections being added to it regularly.
Re: …Ahadees…
Basically, Imam Bukhari has 93 Books which contain a total of 7275 Hadiths. Usually they are divided into 9 or 10 books (volumes).
Imam Muslim has approximately 7133 and they are usually divided into a single collection of 9 Books (volumes)
Make sure it mentions a ‘Complete Collection’ of the Hadiths whenever purchasing these books, otherwise you’ll only get partial version of it.
Re: …Ahadees…
Majority of Pakistani Muslims belong to the Imam Abu Hanifa School of Thought, like the Indonesians belong to Imam Shafi’s School of Thought. Similarly Imam Malik’s School of Thought also is a different one and that’s why most Pakistani Muslims are not aware of his works.

Downloadable in Urdu (only Hadith Qudsi though):

Re: ...Ahadees...
as far as I know theres 6 authentic collections and Bukhari being the most authentic from them. followed by Muslim, Tirmidhi etc.
but even for Bukhari....its different volumes right....I mean for example theres a book of salah and dif ones for different topics. and its usually more than one book. I have seen people who have the collections and they tend to be quiet a few books. so the one ur talking about....which is just one book....it may not be complete. but Allah knows best :)
Re: …Ahadees…
According to Fua’d Abd al Baqi in his Notes to Sunan Ibn Majah (p.1519f) the total number of hadith in Sunan Ibn Majah amount to 4341 of which 3002 are also recorded in Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al Tirmidhi, al Nasai… that leaves some 1339 hadith unique to Ibn Majah’s work which al Baqi grades as follows:
428 = sahih
199 = hasan
613 = weak
99 = munkar
See also the work Criticism of Hadith Among Muslims With Reference To Sunan Ibn Maja by Suhaib Hasan Abdul Ghaffar (Ta Ha Publishers / Al Qur’an Society, 1986)
they should be aware of it (or at least try to be) given that one of the primary recensions of Imam Malik’s Muwatta is through one of Imam Abu Hanifah’s leading students, namely Muhammad Ibn al Hasan al Shaybani… you can buy this as a separate work… it differs in some respects from the more generally known version of Malik’s Muwatta in that al Shaybani substitutes for Imam Malik’s opinions his own judgements or that of Imam Abu Hanifah after some of the hadith and even in some cases, if i recall, preferring the opinion of Imam Malik over Imam Abu Hanifah where it was based on stronger evidence…
Re: …Ahadees…
I’m not sure but I think the Wahabis only believe in the 6 collections (but Allah knows best), but however there are many many Hadith collections which are followed by most Muslims.
There are 93 Books and they are usually presented in 9 or 10 books and these books we call ‘volumes’. Basically, Imam Bukhari and other Imams went around the land and collected the sayings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). As a result they wrote many many books… Imam Bukhari had collected around 500,000 Hadiths. Out of these he called 7275 of them Sahih and got rid of the rest. Now all he did was put the Hadiths of prayers in book, Hadiths aboutt he funeral in one book, Hadiths about Marriage in another book and so on. This way he made 93 different books. Obvisouly one cannot shove all 93 books in one books so we get them in 9/10 volumes. Please not, when I say volume, I don’t mean different versions.
Here’s what I mean:

Re: …Ahadees…
incorrect
a common misconception… what is meant is that he collected at least 500,000 (or whatever the exact figure was) different chains of transmission (isnads) for the hadith that he knew…
it doesn’t mean the rest weren’t also sahih in his view… and he didn’t just get “rid of the rest”, he collected many other hadith that aren’t in Sahih al Bukhari in some of his other works such as in Adab Al Mufrad, Juz Rafa’ al Yadain, Khalq Afal al Ibad… all three of which are published…
it’s only in the translations or commentaries of Sahih al Bukhari that you get 9/10 volumes… the original Arabic text of Sahih al Bukhari alone can be found in just two or three volumes… in fact i’ve seen the entire work in just one (thick) volume as well with particularly small type…
Re: …Ahadees…
what a dumb thing to say :halo: even “sunnis” have 6 books. unless ur something else. so basically anyone who doesnt believe in the “false additions” into Islam, is automatically labelled a “wahabbi” right? I hope ur not one of them kind of people who goes round calling everyone a wahabbi cuz I find them people really annoying ![]()
