Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
Sounds fun. Can you elaborate on the various ways mentioned please.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
Botox
Botulinum toxin A, sold as Botox, is the purified toxin of the bacteria that causes botulism. It is an effective as an anti-wrinkle treatment. Tiny, over-clenched facial muscles are responsible for crow's feet, frown lines, and other facial wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is a paralyzing agent, which in tiny doses can relax these uptight muscles for months at a time.
Injections of Botox usually take about ten to fifteen minutes in an office setting. The injections cause minimal discomfort for most people, with no recovery time.
The results are temporary. Treatments must be repeated every few months. And could be expensive.
Chemical Peels
In a chemical peel, a chemical solution is applied to small areas of skin on the face, neck or hands. The chemicals damage the outer layers of skin in a controlled way. After the procedure, the damaged skin becomes red and peels off. Chemical peels can remove age spots, acne scars, and some wrinkles.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Newer "nonablative" lasers penetrate beneath the surface skin. This stimulates collagen production, improving skin's tone and texture and minimizing fine lines. There is no damage to the outer skin, so there is no recovery time.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion involves a device that "sandblasts" the skin with a spray of abrasive microscopic crystals. Scars from acne or chickenpox, wrinkles, and age spots can be reduced or removed with microdermabrasion.
Several treatments (up to 10 or so) may be needed for good results.

Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
Do people really do to these extents?. Looking good seems to be a full time job.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
Yes, I personally know people who have had one or more of these! They love it.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
That sounds so scary :(
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
I would like to try Botox in a few years. b then hopefully ti will be cheaper as well as safer and have more research to back up...
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
The chemical peels I hear are wonderful. The lady at the salon I went to a few days ago, offers glycolic peels. She swears by them. SUpposed o be good for evening skin tone, reducing age spots and hyperpigmentation.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
botox injections are like in the face..............thanks but no thanks!!!!
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
The best way to take care of ageing skin is to care for it when you are in your 20s.
Moisturize it well, exfoliate and dont use any harsh chemicals.
Reap rewards in your 30s and 40s.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
^ True..and i'd like to add..taking care of the neck and hands are very important as well. women focus too much on the face so while the face will look younger... neck/chin and hands will give it away. often, the hand and neck are exposed to the same degree that the face is so it needs care as well.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
One word: protection from the sun- sunblock!!!!
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
Are chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing the two of the four that require only 'once' treatment, or are these treatments applied for several months at a time for the results to appear?
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
From what I hear, chemical peels need to be repeated. Not laser.
Re: Ageing Skin: 4 Ways to Look Great
and lets not forget the feet, you see the most polished faces with the most hideous feet :(
I have to really take care of my hands and feet as I have the most transparant of skins to a point where you can see all the blood vessels big and small.
