10 years. At least their, outlook on life should be similar.
When I was younger (teenager) , it was 5 years MAX. Now it doesn´t make a difference at all. I think the older you get, the less attention you pay to these details.

but really depends on an individual, i've seen couples with 10-20 yrs gap and MashAllah are living happily..

Not more than 6 yrs. Going to 10 is like going to a completely different decade. I've seen people with great age differences they arents the happiest couples. My husband is two yrs older than me. My dad is 4 yrs older than my mom. All me close relatives are within 5 yrs of their relative spouses. Except the one that is 10 yrs older than his wife.

My sis and her hubby have an 8 year gap and they're getting on beautifully.
My best friend and her hubby have a ten year gap and they're also doing very well.
My other best friend and her hubby have a 2 year gap and even though they had a lot of issues in the beginning, they're doing great now.
I think a 5 year gap is reasonable and anything more then that should be left to the individuals to decide whether its something they can manage or not. Some men who are a lot older talk down to their wives and thats not right. Some women who are too close in age compete with their husbands in every aspect of life, again not right.
It really depends on the people involved but about 5 years is reasonable to me.
