After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

After repeated claims of breaking back of terrorists, killing thousands of them, breaking their command and control center… This is what gonna happen on 9 & 10th of Muharam:

  1. double sawari per pabandi ( pillion ride not allowed)

  2. mobile networks shall be down

  3. roads for shia matam shall be remained closed for and kind of traffic

Aren’t we were used to this kind of things before Zarb-e-azb, and million claims of security…

To Gen. SHAREEF,
Sir, if all what u were saying is true why we are under constant threat… Why still double sawari shyt is still around…why mobile networks have to be shut down???

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

valid post and some real questions…and here is answer from yasis pirzada

the issue is that army is fighting to its core but this war will not be won by army only…army will kill 10 and in 3 months, 10 more will be produced bu the supply chain of this terrorist network which is spread across the country

so question yasir is asking, what has state done to mitigate the supply chain and propaganda of these terrorists? PMLN/PTI/PPP, they rule in 3 provinces. what have they done to disrupt these terrorist and to change the mind set of a common man so that he hates this nafrat-laden ideology? sab say pehlay pakistan was just a slogan. do majority of pakistanis believe in it especially outside urban centers?

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

main aap say poochat hoon janab that before we ask army, let me ask you what have you done to defeat terrrorism? only few weeks ago when i asked on this forum if we support pakistan's strategy of supporting afghan taliban, most of the posters including you supported that strategy one way or the other with gazallion excuses and on the name of strategic interest. please dont take it personal. laikan jub pork ka ghost machine ma dalain gay to beef ka qeema nahieen niklay ga sarkar. for example, if supporting aghan taliban is fine then we need to preserve a network in pakistan which supports these afghan taliban and many pakistani taliban TTP will take advantage of that network as well.

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

The war against terror is not over, it is still ongoing. Army is fighting in mainly FATA areas but rest of the Pakistan it is police responsibility to capture them, politicians' responsibility to curb terrorist support etc.

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

Totally agree to OP and also I am really disappointed on the rate of execution of terrorists and to the matter of fact about the Army courts usefulness too. Couple of reasons:

1) 90% (or more) of the people hanged were, for lack of better words, were amateur killers. No I am not saying that they should not be punished but when will be start seeing mass execution of TERRORISTS.

2) Current SOP are not helping Army courts. First off, not many trials are transferred to Army court and even the ones where Army court has given verdicts, other courts have given stay orders. Whats the purpose or Army courts then? Either put the laws in place that appeal process can be finished within a month or just dissolve the Army courts

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

Lets not combine two different things here...

Afghan Taliban are different case, where they were once ruler then outset by foreign intervention and now they fighting and negotiating at same time..some time fighting intensify and sometime negotiations makes headlines...Qatar office, Murree talks are examples... Pakistan have certain influence on Afgan Taliban but that influence is limited and they do not take orders from Pakistan unless it is in their personal interest too.

Pakistan atleast from last two to three years is trying to use its influence to attain two things...1) safe exit of NATO from Afghanistan 2) peace in Afghanistan at least within the Areas connected to Durand Line... These are reasons we are not THAT-MUCH-TERRORIST as we were some 6/7 years ago... And i support this policy of Pakistan, because it is with an intent to attain peace at western front.

Pakistan under Mushy did supported elements we both dislike...and i was against it back then..

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

And this the reason that still today, Pakistan had to shut of the mobile services and what not...

The hangings took place is good small step but not the step, since there has been no serious effort to take out Fazallula and his top tier leadership...

Everyone is praising army for its efforts in Karachi, South Punjab, Balochistan and FATA...but we had not seen any top tier leadership got killed, they are very alive and moving, we may have killed the foot soldiers, but the leadership is still out there in London, in Afghanistan, in Switzerland or India and their striking capability may have been limited but it is very much there..

Yes It is long war, we are ready for it...but in one and half year, how many top leaders of different groups have been taken down....making that group disfunctional or weak???

If i dont see any head rolling in another six months or so then i guess we may need to apply different tactics...

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

Suppose there were 10,000 bad guys. We killed 9,998 of them but 2 are still around. These 2 can still cause real damage if they wanted.

It would take many years before things are 'stable' enough in the country.

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

True..

The thing iam worried is, Fazallula is still.out there. Enjoying.. Altaf is still out there. Baloch rebel leaders are still out there, leaders of extremist orgs, they are still enjoying...none of them was sent to hell...

Killing foot soldiers and one or two from 2nd tier leadership is not going to help....

We aren't USA who can afford to go around long wars, we need to take them out as fast as we can....for that lethal action is required, which is not visible

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

they are struggling hanging cold murderer mumtaz qadri............forget fazalullah. plus so much support for mumtaz qadri within our society. that is the root of the problem. how would you defeat that mindset which is emotionally charged based on false religious premsies...kill one mumtaz qadri and 10 more will be produced....afetrall they are going to janat.

So yes, we shd absolutely hang mumtaz qadri as soon as we can to make an example out of him, but we also need to defeat that toxic narrative which is breeding and nurturing mumtaz qadris and fazulullahs and that is not solely army's responsibility....media, civil society, educationists, govt, politicians everyone has to play a role.

on the other hand, killing altaf and all baloch rebel leaders is not the right solution and will cause more complications. lets accept that army has handled the baloch issue pretty well (from what we have heard so far....could be a bit of propaganda as well)

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

can't be stopped with wars and operations only.

civilians need to do their part. Policing, socio economic uplift, education bla bla. Just building roads/metros in big cities not going to do it.

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

Mumtaz Qadri should be hanged and his "Facilitators" and supporterd should be booked under terrorist act...if State can't do this, then stop braging about success of Zarb-e-azb.

Baloch rebellion leaders who havent applied for State Pardon and have not laid their arms and are residing out side, should be assassinated.... It will send message to remaining rebellions...

Altaf and cronies should be dispatched to hell...otherwise the Karachi operation will be a failure...

A team of commandoes/secret agents should be send to locate and kill TTP top tier leadership...

If we cant do above, then we are loosing this war....Although have limited their strike capability for time being but they will remerge once army is back...

Once above are done, then civilian and others can trust the State and its promises...otherwise, personally i won't trust a State's security apparatus if they are going to confine me at home by closing city literally, by jamming phone lines...

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

The Law and order situation in Pakistan is better as compared to two years back. Pakistan has got limited options to deal with militant leaders who are based in other countries. Pakistan is not Israel to assassinate its enemies and get away with it. As far as mqm chief is concerned the government should coordinate with UK authorities to get him punished if they can't do the same within Pakistan. In recent days I can see the government trying to Molly cuddle with mqm when they are in hot waters. Not everything is dependant upon the army.

Re: After Year n half of Zarb-e-Azb

Really how?
