After wedding dresses (Dinners, maklawa, early days, parties etc..)

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

I loveeee black. I wear it every other day. It is the colour that blends with every other colour and can suit anyone at all! I am always attracted to everything that is black.

Whose gona ask them before getting ready :p

I'm glad someone started this thread!!

I'm in the process of getting mine.

My mums making me 12 really fancy suits and then the rest not too fancy that i can wear at home.

My in-laws are also making the same so in total about 50 outfits.

I want them all to be very different - styles, colours,

Anyone whos married recommend how they should be? should the dupatta be heavy and kameez simple or visa versa?

Get more practical clothes made with light kaam on the sleeves, gala and all..heavy clothes are hardly worn!

What do you mean 'allow'...if you like the color, your wearing it, so go for it. Black can look very nice and elegant at an evening function.

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

which designers would you reccommend to buy such outfits ie websites?

Why so many?! I mean styles and sizes and designs change, new, nicer stuff is always coming out..i dont know where ur based but if u live outside of pakistan you really dont need so many.

r3aziz,

its nice mashAllah ur getting so many dresses made and I hope you won't mind me sharing my experience. I only made a couple before I got married with kaam and all that. I have been very very simple all of my unmarried life and I didn't think I would like to wear heavy kaam or such.... but once I got married... I started liking all the shimmery stuff and started experimenting wiht different styles and colors..... and another thing that happens after marriage (I only speak from my own experience) my hubby used to take me shopping or go shopping with me for outfits.... and I'm so glad I didn't make all my clothes before marriage that way I can wear what he wants to see on me... and now with our normal routine in place I usually opt for softer flowy stuff or lawn key suits but with nice sparkly laces....to add that little oomph...

For me personally, it was also a plus point coz I gained some weight after marriage embarassed and also in foresight I thought what if I get pregnant (inshAllah) soon after marriage, I won't be able to wear all these clothes... ...

all the best to you.... :) ... just me sharing my thoughts ...

Oh r3aziz what fun!

Dont get them all heavy heavy kaam walay. Get some heavy ones to wear to weddings and stuff, and then some nice but less heavy ones for dawats etc. Make sure you get at least 5-10 timeless pieces that you can keep and wear for years, like saris, ghararas etc. Maybe get some unstiched cloth with kaam on it, so you can sew it later, this way if you gain weight or something you can make as you like. Some winter, some summer, some casual for home
I still have some suits from when I got married that I havent worn yet, because they are a bigger size, which I have been saving for when I get pregnant, gain weight etc. So maybe you might want to do that too, you dont want to spend all this money on these beautiful clothes that might not even fit you anymore after 2 years!

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

DaffyDuck its very beautifull

thanks for the advice guys!

Sara576 - i will be getting married in Pakistan and staying there for a month after the wedding but i live in London, uK.

I have asked my in-laws to get me some of the Gul-ahmeds and add laces or a little embroidery to them.

I always wear shalwar kameez at home - so i guess make less fancy and more simple ones.

This is what i intend on getting or have so far. There are only so many styles of clothes u can make though.

2 Saris - 1 black

churidar - 1 cream - not too keen on churidars

trouser suits - i dont like trouser suits

shalwar kameez - all different styles love the short kameez and big shalwars!

anarkali? i really like these but not sure if these will suit me?

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

i got this made when i was in lahore, it looks fab and everyone has loved it, contrasted with sea green shalwar and duppata. got it made by master jee at liberty basement market, lahore!

Thats gorgeous silsila!

How many outifts did you get made? and are you getting the chance to wear them a lot now?

Are all your outfits fancy or simple?

i bought lots, but only managed to wear a few, got this lovely shalwar kameez, in sea green, with antique and crystal work on the front, back of kammeeez (where zip is) and on duppata, with antique bronze/pinky jamawar lining everywhere, got some fab shoes to match! got a gorgeous one from maria b toooooooooooo with emerald and sworoski stones, waiting to wear that too, just doesnt seem to be the right occasion to wear the suits, my sisters keep saying, save it for something special!

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

Silsila can you post the pics of the dresses you are talking about, if it is convenient for you?

Re: After wedding dresses(Dinners, maklawa, early days, partiesetc..)

Silsila, your suits sound gorgeous. Can I ask how long you went to Pak for? Also, how much did you get the suit above made for from Master Jee?

this dress is really a masterpiece .. love it … getting it made as well .. how u paid for it ?
