WASHINGTON: The United States has now turned its focus to Quetta, claiming that it has now become a major Taliban base from where Mullah Omar and his commanders plan and launch cross-border strikes into Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, The Washington Post quoted US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson as saying that Quetta was high on Washington’s list of terrorist bases in the region.

‘In the past, we focussed on Al Qaeda because they were a threat to us. The Quetta Shura mattered less to us because we had no troops in the region,’ she said. ‘Now our troops are there on the other side of the border, and the Quetta Shura is high on Washington’s list.’

She said Pakistani officials were growing ‘extremely nervous’ that the current policy disputes in Washington would lead to a premature US pullout from Afghanistan. ‘They will not rush to cut ties with the Taliban if they think they will be back in charge there again,’ she said…

Anyone following the Palestinian closely (and with human heart) should ask for Allah's forgiveness and then quit doing what Palestinians have been doing for the last 60+ years.

We must learn that violence will not get them a state (period). Being law abiding citizens of this world is the first step of getting anything let alone a state.

Similarly the Taliban should look at the hashar nashar and ibrat naak situation and immediately stop using terror as a weapon.

Otherwise for the next 60 years little Afghani children will be butchered by every Tom, Dick, Harry, Abdullah and Akram.

The same thing goes for Taliban-supporters and terror-sympathizers in Pak.

^ Its not about Palestinians or Israelis. Its just that more direct US action in Pakistan will definitely result in more hatred and easier conversion of people to extremist ideology.

Not really. If today America make negtiations with Pushtoon Taliban which is very much possible and retreat from Afghanistan, then what will happen to Pakistan? Pakistan should think on these lines too. Pakistan is suffereing from indulging in creating Taliban and other jehadis to fight Communists, its suffering will continue if not think logically unlike you.
