Another US based actress returns to films after a hiatus.
Mumbai: Friday was a big night for Marathi cinema as many leading lights of the Marathi and Hindi film industry came for the premiere of Kadachit. The thriller, directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni stars noted actress Ashwini Bhave, who has also turned producer for this film.
For Ashwini, whose Bollywood debut was RK productions’ Heena, being the lead actor and producer was a challenge she relished.
“When I worked as an actor I looked at producers as financers. This is so untrue once I’ve stepped into their shoes,” she said.
The film has already received a thumbs up from the industry.
Said actor Ritesh Deshmukh, “Certainly the film is going to be brilliant because Chandrakant Kulkarni is a brilliant director.” Agreed actor Shreyas Talpade, “Considering the film is being directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni, Ashwini Tai is producing it she’s also acting in the film. I’m looking forward to it.”
Actor Ashutosh Rana made an interesting point. “When a sensitive actor turns producer then we hope the subject of his film will also be sensitive,” he said.
Kadachit is already running housefull in pune. And interestingly, it pits Ashwini against her fellow Maharashtrian actress Madhuri Dixit whose comeback film also opened this weekend.
“I wish both of them good luck, I’ve been a fan of both of them. I don’t know the response of Aaja Nachle but this film is done well in Pune and Kohlapur where it has released,” said Talpade.
