Mohammad Asif, the former Pakistan fast bowler, has publicly confessed to his part in spot-fixing during theLord’s Test in 2010 and hopes to make amends in order to revive his international career. He delivered an unconditional apology at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, nearly three years after he was handed a seven-year ban from participating in any form of cricket.
He would spend two of those years under suspension, on condition that he commits no further breach of the Code of Conduct throughout that period and participates in an anti-corruption education programme under the Pakistan Cricket Board. The apology is not expected to have any immediate implications but Asif will have to undergo rehabilitation and present the whole truth to the ACSU and PCB.

Idiots, both Salman and Asif continued to deny their crime for 3 years, now they are admitting their crimes, whats the point now? Had they admitted and cooperated much earlier they had a chance of reduced punishment and nation may not have condemned them as much.

I think Asif & Butt were going to keep denying the charge cause they were hoping to play after their 5 year ban while maintaining their innocence. They have been made to realize that part of their ban was also admit their mistake & come clean if they aspire to resume their careers. I don't think there is any chance of a reduce sentence, if there was Amir surely would have gotten it. Don't be surprised to read Butt and or Asif's interview or book after their careers are over maintaining their innocence and claiming they had to admit their guilt just so they can resume their careers.
