During the 70’s the Afro hairstyle became a recognised cultural reference point for African Americans:
This reached a zenith in the cult B movie ‘The Warriors’ where there were two or three spectacular examples. Did the decline of the Afro mark a subsequent decline in fortunes of black Americans?
Xtreme, that was a Fad. Fads come and fads go. Remember Khulay Pounchay in Pakistan? Bell bottoms (I am sure you still wear them), long collars, skinny ties.
To answer your question, no the decline of Afro did not cause any decline in fortunes of Black Americans. Now everyone with a show on TV has their own clothing brand. And that siht is expensive.
