PCB chief said that Afridi will be sacked irrespective of team’s performance in rest of World T20.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan while giving an important interview to a British website has said that Shahid Afridi will no more be Pakistan T20 captain after World T20 irrespective of the team s performance in the remainder of the tournament.
Shaharyar Khan said that Pakistan s World Twenty20 loss to India in Kolkata on Saturday was very disappointing and added that there is clear discontent in the PCB about Afridi and his performances and captaincy and the board will not retain him as captain any longer.
Criticizing team selection for the match against India, PCB chairman said that playing with four fast bowlers at the spinning Eden Gardens pitch was a crucial mistake and added that a specialist spinner should have been included in the playing XI for this match.
Shaharyar further said that the board was also contemplating appointing a new coach and would not extend Waqar Younis’s contract when it expires before the tour to England in summer.
Pakistan were defeated by India by six wickets on Saturday in a crucial World Twenty20 Group 2 encounter at the Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata.
Pakistan were restricted to 118/5 in their quota of 18 overs as batsmen failed to score freely on a turning track. India achieved the target in 16th over after losing just four wickets.

man this is idiotic - just when you think they cant sink lower with their inefficiency. A tournament is going on , team is exactly not on the exit path so why let the world now about your intentions? this might lead to insubordination as well as a dent to the captains morale.

and this so called retard was a "diplomat"? May be a failed one. In crunch time when team/captain is down you support him. When he had failed earlier in Asia cup he gave a different retarded tone i.e. we don't select captain for performance but for tenure. What an idiot this guy is. If you can't say good words then STFU. Right now after this statement every idiot will be fancying his shot at captaincy and could get busy in peer-lobbying/grouping for that.
After this WC is over I would like to see low IQ people out of PCB setup: Shaharyar, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Najam Sethi

Absolutely pathetic statement by Shaharyar already trying to deflect blame onto others. What about the accountability of the PCB hierarchy incl. himself and selection committee etc.

I lost all respect for this idiot when he insisted that Pak plays an ODI the day families were burying their dead after APC. Yet he postponed the test match for one day after the death of the Australian player. How pathetic.

I'm quite sure it has happened before as well that right in the middle of a series or tournament they pointed a similar sacking. It just increases the turmoil.
See thats why nothing good is gona happen as long as these idiotic people stay at authority. It also shows that the grouping is not limited to players only, its there among the officials as well.
Btw someone just asks them how much money they have made so far on these positions before they ask us "not to expect" anything from the team.

This is very unprofessional and humiliating, but as far as Afridi is concerned, this is very much karma for him. After all, he had the audacity to chuck away his captaincy and call retirement in the middle of a difficult overseas series.
I reckon the whole idea behind making the 'retirement agreement' is public is to ensure Afridi does not take any U-turn on retirement. Looks the Board really doesn't want him to play after the WC regardless of his form and public pressure.
