Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

Specially when he gives away his wicket (at times through his natural game ‘rush of blood’ instincts) even if that happens after scoring 25-30 plus runs. Still people ignore his strike rate (always improving the teams run rate)

Not to mention the pressure he exerts (and terror) on the opposition once he walks in and clicks. Also a good representative of his country. Never in the recent past the Pakistani team looked so united.

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

I think..Afridi is going through difficult times...and I hope...he would be fine by the next world cup... :)

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

When he comes ahead of other all rounders/batsmen then he is expected to bat like a batsman and not like a 'bowler/fielder', when he gets out like his usual-self he is losing his strength as 'motivator'.

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

I think...Afridi has done some good things for Pakistan cricket...but when he is in the team...I count the team as 10 players + Afridi a bonus or a gamble... :D

PS: But when he is captaining the team...he should take a bit more responsibility while batting...and should not bat regardless of the match situation... :)

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator…is often ignored. WHY ?

If he doesnt bat well he bowls well if he doesnt bowls well he fields well

so never count him out from a match

plus a good uniter and motivator

hope he performs in all departments tomorrow and win the series :jhanda:

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator…is often ignored. WHY ?

InshAllah…I think his troubles and difficulties should be fading by now…

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

He needs to bat like he did in the T20 final in 2009...think that his GOAL is to last 10-20 overs of batting....simple. Then whether he opens or comes in the lower middle order...it won't make a difference...he will be there, get 40+ always since even if plays some dot balls or takes singles..he can hit out a six when needed..
if he bats like that, everything else in his game will automatically fall in place

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

lol...lets not forget...Afridi has been and always been selected as a bowler and not as a batsman... :D

Re: Afridi, the bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

I liked his passion in the last overs of 4th ODI.
It was nice to see someone desperate for a win. Compare that to the losers like Asif, Amir, Akmal, and Butt. The hell with such talented losers.

Have you ever seen the opposition faces when he walks in? They are full of curiosity and expectations,,,
They know either he's going to score 45+ odd runs or take 2-3 wickets and when their expectations fail to materialize, it gives the opposition a moral boost which you can visibly see. Often its like they see off a 'Joker Card' of the opponent.

Afridi is a top quality entertainer value nothing more and nothing less.

Team is 'Not United' as you say! IMO They'r bewildered and uncertain of their futures hence the 'Closed Pack' illusion you see.
Although I'm very sorry to see 'Waqar Younis' on the Official Squad under such shameful and testing times for the nation.

Re: Afridi, the quality bowler, the fielder, the motivator....is often ignored. WHY ?

Good representative of his country? I think not.

Captain has got it right on.. if he is going to bat like that (boom and bust in 2-3 overs) he needs to come lower down the order.. even after the Razzler.. like a bowling all rounder...

Actually I wrote this before “Zulqernain Saga” so add him to the ‘uncertain future’ list :smack:
