The naughty boy has been punished and hopefully this will deter anyone else thinking of committing such a stupid act in future. With all the camera's in place now its foolish and damaging to try anything of the like. It has tainted an otherwise excellent performance by Pakistan.
Now hopefully he can go off on style and launch a blitz on England in the 2nd innings and come back with vengence in the 3 remaining ODIs :)

ditto! PCB should take strict action against Afridi, this was like a nightmare for Pakistani fans. If he let his own people down, he has no place in the team. Even if it was Inzi, Salman or Rana, the law should be same for everyone and PCB should take action against this pathetic act.

That’s a shame. Yeah..give English whiners another excuse to bitch about something, everything and nothing.
The way Afridi bats, even after all the lectures from coach, captain and commentators, obviously, he is not ‘normal’. A moment of weakness could be a regret of a lifetime. He should be suspended for the entire series. Not much of a role model

Actually, a case can be made for penalising the whole team. This is similar to a batsman running on to the pitch. If he does this repeatedly, the opposing team is awarded runs. Scruffing up the pitch by Afiridi helps Pakistan bowlers, so it wouldn't be unfair if England are awarded some extra runs.

Alright, let's not get carried away. It's not like he killed someone. People make mistakes, and they get punished, sometimes. Afridi got punished for what he did and that's all was needed.

Damn you Afridi I recorded Afridi's dance on the pitch they kept showing yesterday.
He's lucky to get away with just 1 test and 2 ODI ban. He will be back for the Indians :)

what shahid did could be deemed as a stupid action on his part but when looking at other aspects of the game that went against pakistan his behavior should have been offset by the decision makers to make up for their mistakes.

Afridi got carried away and paid the price, end of story. The fact that the English players have gotten away scot free with their antics is a seperate issue. Claiming a false catch can have as much impact (if not more) on a match as a few scrapes on a pitch. The effects of Afridi's actions are highly overrated, the morning rollers will nullify any damage.
If we can win this test, then Afridi's test ban will not be significant. But his absence in the ODI's will definitely hurt us.

Big time discussion.. few points raised. My point of view on same
1. Skhan makes a point, Afiridi did - Paid Price - Move ahead
2. What Afridi did isn't part of the process in playing cricket at that level.
3. Bell's catch - The match is run by umpires, they took the call. We all know that they do take good an bad calls and most of these even out in long run.
4. Penalizing umpires - yes they do get penalized, since both teams give reports on them to ICC and based on that they stay or go out of panel.
Its fascinating to watch this Pathan batting, though what he did would always show on his character as a person and player. He lost big time credibility here, and he doesn't even has an excuse or his side of the story.
Finally Two wrongs doesn't make a Right. So trying to defend his actions based on some other wrong's doesn't make sense at all.
Cheers - Best retort from Pakistan would be to win series 3-0 (With or Without Afridi.. You guys have enough talent to do this)

You can't imagine the amount of negative publicity this incident has generated. It was all over the news here with afridi shown swirling over the pitch and pietersen mocking him.only other glimpse of pak-eng series was flintoff's catch.
