Afridi deserved the punishment. Pietersen even made fun of him at the end of the days' play whirling right infront of him. :D] This left a embarrassed Afridi laughing it off. Now laugh of the ban mate.

all bull$hit, when players like McGrath or others do swearing in field is that all in “spirit of the game”? aren’t those players “role model” for “lot of people around the world”? I agree that Afridi’s act was bad but they are dragging it a bit farther IMO.

Well said kaptaan. For Roshan Mahanama, hurling a ball at a player when they are not attempting a run (Steve Harmison - Bholey Badshah) & pretending a clean catch was taken when it wasn't, (Mohammed Yousuf - Ian Bell) is well within the 'spirit of the game'. What a munaifik.

Afridi committed a Level 3 Offence punishable by a ban of minimum 2 test matches. Swearing is also a violation but comes under Level 1 offence which carries alighter sentence.

Its my guess that Afridi got away lightly because he apologised and this was his first offence. Whatever his reasoning or excuses, we cannot and sud not defend his act OR try to compare other wrongs cause two wrongs do not make a right.

Not only it’s bad for Pakistan team, I think it will also have a huge impact on the crowd attendence in the next test. I bet most people were in the stadium just to watch Afridi play.

Also, I am glad that Botham is not the match refree, because if he were, the way he was “crying” about this incident, he would have imposed a life time ban on Afridi…Rondu kaheen ka

yo I understand everyone is pissed at the cheating of england, but u have to admit this one is way more cl=earlere than what bell did. If a ball is comin at u and u move ur face not to get injured sometime u dont feel if ur hand has touched the ground. I know Bell knew it touched but a benefit of doubt can be awarded but what afridi did was bad. B4 seein the clip I thought the same as to why double standards but that is just plain old bad and he deserved the pucinshment

I do not necessarily mean to justify Afridi’s wrong. Whatever the swearing that goes on the field should also be scrutinized and players punished accordingly as it is very well known that it demoralises or insults a batsman, more like pushing a player in a corner. A “match referee” is issuing a statement “role model, lot of player look upto him” is just dragging it in different direction.

At the time of the Bell incident, Pakistan were batting so well that it was sheer desperation from Englands’ corner. Micky Vaughan tried everything to dislodge the pair of Bholey badshah and Yousuf. So if that means, Bell can resort to cheating to dismiss a player, it’s a pretty sad thing to do in my book.

After Bell took the one handed diving ‘catch’, you should’ve seen the look on his face when he nodded to Simon Taufel that yes he had taken the catch.

I dont know why Darrel Hair keep officiating in all the matches which the south asian teams play. He ran into problems with INDia, Pakistan and Srilanka.

Okay, what I am thinking now is that if Afridi's act was pure accidental or was it done dilebrately?

I would like to think that it was done accidentally, but then, the question is that how can someone who plays cricket for a living can just "forget" that running on the middle on the pitch is not allowed?

And if it was done dileberately, what the hell was the need? Pakistan was in a very strong position at that stage anyways.

I hope Pak wins this test. The third test will be of less sigficance. He will be back for the Indian series.

But I am so furious at Afridi's act that I think PCB should ban him for another test on top of the ICC banning. Just to teach this idiot a lesson. What a moron. Saari performance ka mazaa kirkiraa ker diya.

PCB needs to get the message across to other morons in the team and also the cricket public that such acts will NEVER be tolerated by those wearing the Pakistani caps. FURIOUS! Fking cheat!
