Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play Test

Afridi is Afridi - honest mouth even though he may not have the best cricketing mind…

Some new news revealations - (although old news to most of us)

No Mention of Younis khan any where though…
Mentions Zulqarnain and Sarfaraz as better choices and that Kamran needs a rest…

India has never supported Pakistan cricket: Afridi
PTI, Oct 1, 2010, 09.13am IST

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board should stop relying on India or any other Asian nation for support and become self reliant in solving its problems, says the national team’s ODI and Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi.

Asked about the continued absence of the Pakistani national Twenty20 champions from the lucrative Champions League, the second edition of which concluded last week in Johannesburg, Afridi said India has never been supportive of Pakistan cricket.

“Leave alone the Champions League, tell me when has India ever supported Pakistan cricket?” Afridi told ‘Geo Channel’.

I’ve lost the desire to play Tests: Afridi

01 October 2010 (Karachi)

Pakistan’s ODI and Twenty20 skipper Shahid Afridi says he has no intentions of going back on his “emotional” decision to retire from Test cricket as he has lost the desire to play the longer format of the game.

“I have no real desire to play Test cricket and the reason I lost this desire was because I was not selected consistently for Test matches,” Afridi said.

Well said by him :hbk:

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

Seriously this guy needs to get a life. He should also have mentioned the other countries which never supported Pakistani cricket. Each nation is for itself. If it relies on some other country to act as its crutches, then people are in for a rude shock.

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

When PCB doesn't support Pakistan cricket, why expect that from Indians?

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

Excuse me!? - Afridi is just telling his board heads (chairman to be exact) to stop licking the boots of Indian descent ICC president since that won't get him anywhere and rather fix his own issues!
And his words come after a complete snub from IPL and champions league selection...and not to mention a repeated back stabbing attitude from BCCI -

He does have a life and even though he may be not be Mr. SRT but he is still holds the heart of a lion and is sincere to his team and country.

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

As I understand the BCCI and PCB were close and worked together, usually voted t he same and were together in the south asian lobby at ICC.. till 2ish yrs ago.. after the mumbai attacks cricketing ties have gone bad and so has the relationship between BCCI and PCB.

So while I don't agree with " BCCI has NEVER supported PCB ".. I do agree that there is no point for PCB to suk up to BCCI now (butt flying to delhi to make pleas etc)... get your house in order.. thats step #1.. then try to improve relationships with other boards...

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

Bcci and pcb were very close during Nasim Ashraf's time. I remember when champions trophy was gonna be held in Pakistan, NZ, Aus, and Eng wanted it to be moved elsewhere, but it was becaus of Bcci support that pcb and bcci stood up to icc and said if the champions trophy happens, it must be in Pakistan or it doesn't happen at all.

Good for him...

Re: Afridi: India never Supported Pakistan Cricket - I have lost the desire to play T

^^ Yeah definitely good for him....but then again if he improves his captaincy and cricket...then that would be even better for him and Pakistan.
