Afridi back in form and squad

AFridi bowling was clicking and now with bat, he scored back to back 50 and 100:

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Wohi ghissi pitti kahaani yaar. Everyone does well im domestic cricket but then falters in the international stage.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

AFRIDI FIT FOREVER:d

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Don't read too much in this news. He won't make a big difference in this balanced team.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Smooth, I always agreed with you but This team look balance only against WI, otherwise if you look at Farhat when he was trying to use his feet and hit Bradshaw? Look at Hafeez hitting. I know Afridi one big innings after every 30-40 matches shouldnt earn him a place in the team, but if he scores 30-40 every 3-4 innings then I am sure he can make a big difference at the top of the order.

Pak won matches whenever he clicked (I know which is rare), but lets home he gets more consistent, and am sure will be good entertainment to watch.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Afridi has no form, never had it, it is all pure luck.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

And luck favor braves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Afrii was hugely consistent for two consecutive years prior to this dip of form this year. So lets hope he gets in some sort of groove because he does make a difference in this side.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Its good to have him back in the team. I think he should remain the part of the team as if nothing else he has his Taika

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

somehow the fielders of the other team turn out braver than afridi when holding on to those skiers…

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Lets pray he proves his name "MASTER BLASTER" and "BOOM BOOM"...

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

For the 4th ODI...

  1. Hafeez
  2. Farhat
  3. Hameed
  4. Afridi
  5. Iqbal
  6. Malik
  7. Razzaq
  8. Akmal
  9. Rana
  10. Rehman
  11. Gul

Completely changed batting order due to absence of the solid trio.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

You are sending Afridi at 4th due to absence of the solid trio? I think he must come at 6 after Malik and before Razzaq.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

If you are going to play Afridi you have to bat him higher up the order i.e. during the powerplays where his wishy washy technique and reckless hitting is more likely to succeeed than at any other time in the innings.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

**Afridi back in form and squad AND IN PAVALION **

I heard some people wanted him to go up in the order :rotfl:

No. 6 is his position meri jaan. unless its against India in some conditions.

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

Looking at Pakistani pitches (hope Inzi is not going to ask for grassy pitch since he is not playing; as he did once in Karachi when he was not playing and Pakistan was 3 down for 0 against india) i don't expect bowlers with the pace of Bradshaw and experience of Taylor and Smith will be such a big challenge for Afridi. Therefore, it will be better to send him on the top of the order to utilize field restrictions and more importantly hard ball. Also I will consider it a suicide if PAK goes with two regular seamers in Gul and Rana (as someone suggested above). I would rather go with the following order and team:

  1. Hafeez/Farhat
  2. Afridi
  3. Yasir
  4. Malik
  5. Faisal
  6. Razzaq
  7. Akmal
  8. Rana
  9. Rehman
  10. Gul
  11. Rao or give chance to Sami (faster bowler and better batter)

This will give PaKistan strong bowling options (4-seamers; Gul, Rana, Sami and Razi; 4 spinners; Rehman, Afridi, Malik and Hafeez if he plays), and very deep batting, because Sami, Gul, Rana and Rehman all could chip in with some runs in double figures)

Re: Afridi back in form and squad

^ Yeah maybe you're right but if Afridi can't deliver in sub-continental conditions (although judging him after one flop and that too after such a long time out of the team is a bit harsh) then he should really not be playing international cricket
Most of his successes in ODIs have come batting higher up the order admittedly in sub-continental conditions

My reply is to smooth guy

That is his amaal naama in last 6 months. ab aap khood hi faisla karlijiye. He has been in pretty bad form, we all know that, but if you look at the stats, he is getting bowled and lbw mostly when playing up in the order. He is simply not seeing swinging deliveries early on. Age factor probably, as the reflexes get weaker after 30 (his real age). :) Getting caught later in the innings on short pitch deliveries, so he himself doesn't know what to do with his fading 'skill' if there was any.

I wish Pakistan doesn't build its WC prep with him in mind. If he is included in the squad and fires, that should be a bonus. But we should solidify our batting more and more. We have Malik, Razzaq and Hafeez to cover the allraounders.
