As much as we love to believe that it was MUJAHIDEEN who fought Soviets, it was USA who was fighting Soviets so USSR had to retreat.
Its not Vietnam where US lost 58000 soldiers. USA causality so far is not even 6000 in Afghanistan. There is no comparison in weapon technology between Talibans and US forces. And surprisingly, there is no evidence of any green clothed, long beard old man on white horse visiting the battlefield this time although it happened so often during soviet war
USA is not going any where soon.
