people supporting landmines should be forced to live amongst them and see how long they would survive or their kids. maybe you should reading up on the affects they can have.
And who is suggesting to put the landmines out in open? If there is danger of kids going out there (village right on border or something) then the mines could be sandwiched between barbed wires. I don't want to give blue-print of "how-to-do-it" but just the idea.
