I just read the NY times article. Per this article the shrine keeper accused her of burning the holy book. So to that extent we can Sagres a mullah incited the crowd.

But here is the kicker - the handful of people present turned into a mob. What made them do such a heinous act? What made religious followers become murderers.

Till we answer the question even if she did burn the book did she deserve this we will get nowhere. Blame not just the shrine keeper. Blame the crowd. And what is it about burning a book that turns them to murderers.

Killing someone for burning a book that mentions “mercy and compassion” nearly 200 times in verse.

Irony is lost on these fools.

Its weird how people tend to forego the gentler aspects of their faith and readily adopt dogmatic and even violent aspects. The human psyche seems to crave any sort of justification for blood lust.
