Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

So much for the good taleban.

SOMEWHERE IN WAZIRISTAN: The Afghan Taliban are financially supporting the Pakistani militants and providing sanctuary to them in Afghanistan, spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban has said.

The disclosure, which the spokesman made on Saturday in an interview with a small group of reporters, is meaningful because Pakistan has long been accused of pursuing a policy of differentiating between the Afghan and Pakistan Taliban as so-called ‘good’ and ‘bad’ militants — even though Islamabad denies this.

“The Afghan Taliban are our jihadi brothers,” said Shahidullah Shahid in an interview in Waziristan, the Taliban’s main tribal sanctuary in Pakistan along the Afghan border.

“In the beginning, we were helping them, but now they are strong enough and they don’t need our help, but they are now supporting us financially.”

The Afghan Taliban were also providing sanctuary for a prominent Pakistani commander, Mullah Fazlullah, in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, said Shahid.

The Pakistani Taliban have financed many of their attacks through a combination of kidnapping for ransom cases, extortion and bank robberies. But Shahid’s comments indicate these sources of financing do not always provide the funds they need.

Shahid reiterated the Taliban’s view that peace talks would not succeed unless the government released all militant prisoners and withdrew the army from the tribal region. He also demanded an end to US drone strikes targeting militants in the tribal region.

“Yes, we are terrorists, but we are against the system of the infidels,” said Shahid. “We will fight up to our last drop of blood to impose Sharia (Islamic) law in the country.”

The interview took place in a guestroom attached to a mud house. The Taliban requested that the reporters refrain from revealing exactly where in Waziristan the house was located.

Shahid arrived at the house surrounded by bodyguards in a vehicle with tinted windows. He wore white shalwar kameez and a green army jacket. One of the pockets contained a grenade.

After the interview, the reporters were served a meal of beef curry, rice, fruit and cold Pepsi and Mountain Dew.—AP

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

Since when is the word of TTP believeable, or is it because it suits a certain narrative? Lets stay consistent.

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

Its a fact that TTP's Swat and Mohmand divisions are currently active in Afghan Taleban's strongholds in Eastern Afghanistan (Kunar and Nuristan) since they were driven out of Swat and Mohmand and they have been carrying out a number of attacks from there. Similarly TTP is also there in NWA.

Here is one example:

Cross-border attack : TTP militants storm border post in Mohmand – The Express Tribune

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

But Taliban have condemned TTP actions and disassociated from them long time ago... or is that TTP want to corrupt the image of Taliban so awam stops supporting Taliban eventually forcing army to abandon them completely? victory for someone else?

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

Kunar and Nuristan are not Afghan Taliban strongholds. That is just retarded. Since the TTP are so trust worthy I guess you believe them when they said they didn't attack the church and you are doing this all in the same of Islam?

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

Good job by TTP walas eh? They need to spill some more precious beans coz we the Pakistanis certainly believe their word when it comes to inside info.

Move over wikileaks.

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

The fact of the matter is that Afghan and Pakistani taleban are living side by side in the same areas, either they are tolerating each other or supporting we can discuss this.

Afghan taleban want to rule in parts of Afghanistan and their brothers want to rule in adjacent areas of Pakistan.

Re: Afghan Taliban financing militants in Pakistan: TTP

Taliban can't survive without TTP support (logistics and troops) so it is logically incoherent. These are the same TTP / taliban who said that we won't attack malala but now they reversed and said that yes we would if she comes back to Pakistan. Time for pakistanis to get their head out of the gutter.

If taliban have to be dealt with (i know every other sane fghan has died in afghanistan) then Pakistan should be calling the shots like their baap not the other way around. Frankly, I don't think Pakistan has seriously explored other options in afghanistan. It is like you introduce a gator to kill snakes in an area but now are reluctant to kill the gator that you lovingly introduced to kill the snakes. Now, you rather give your children as tribute to the gators than finish them off once and for all.

Would anyone like to give their children as tribute because you love the gators? Same is the case with taliban.

i don't know if this is meant to be funny but i can't stop laughing. a grenade in his pocket? pepsi and mountain dew?
