Afghan strikes a musical chord with India
KABUL (Narad Online): The interim Afghan government has sent a SOS to India for despatch of a set of musical instruments to compose the new national anthem because the erstwhile Taliban regime had destroyed all musical instruments in the country as it was considered un-Islamic.
The SOS sent by the Afghan Cultural Ministry today said that the country had only one recorded cassette of the new national anthem, which was played only once just before the commencement of the swearing in ceremony of the new government, was not in proper format and of poor quality.
The SOS asked New Delhi to despatch a set of musical instruments for professional recording of the anthem., which include a set of Harmonium, Tabla, Sarod, Sitar, Tanpura, Surmandal, Sarangi, Violin, Guitar, Pakhwaj, Piano, Flute, Banjo Drum and a traditional Dhol.
India is the only country to have been approached by the Afghan regime with Cultural Ministry officials saying that the SOS has been despatched as New Delhi and Kabul shared common cultural heritage.
