Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Turns out the 17 Taliban killed last week were really just a bunch of poor guys from Chaman who went to celebrate Naouroz in Mazare-Sharif.
For those Pashthuns on this site who are always getting wet over the very name of Afghnistan… What do you have to say about this?

Dead Pakistanis ‘were innocent’

Locals bury some of the dead across the border in Chaman
Pakistan says 16 of its nationals travelling in Afghanistan were arrested and then killed by Afghan security forces.
A Pakistani embassy spokesman in Kabul told the BBC that the men “were innocent Pakistani civilians”.

The Afghan foreign ministry said on Thursday the dead were all “Taleban… from Pakistan”.

The Afghan authorities say they are investigating the deaths, reported near the border town of Spin Boldak.

The dispute over the killings comes as relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border security have worsened.

QUICK GUIDE

Afghanistan

The Afghan government has repeatedly accused Pakistan of failing to prevent Taleban militants from taking refuge on its territory, while the Pakistani authorities have criticised the quality of Afghan intelligence.

Wave of anger

Tens of thousands of people came out on the streets in the border town of Chaman as the bodies of 14 of those killed were taken there. Eight of the dead were residents of Chaman.

Officials say the other bodies were being sent to their respective towns for proper burials.

Journalists in Chaman say the incident has sent a wave of anger both among local Islamist and Pashtun nationalists.

Many are openly accusing the Afghan security forces of murdering innocent Pakistani nationals in cold blood and later justifying the act by calling them Taleban fighters.

Senior officials in Islamabad say it has now been established beyond doubt that all those killed were Pakistani citizens and that they were killed by the Afghan security forces.

But the BBC’s Zaffar Abbas in Islamabad says no-one knows what exactly happened across the border in Spin Boldak on Wednesday.

Accounts rejected

On Wednesday an Afghan border security commander said at least 15 Taleban fighters near the border with Pakistan had been killed by Afghan forces.

On Thursday, Afghan foreign ministry spokesman Naved Ahmed Mohaz stood by that version of events.

“They were Taleban who crossed the border from Pakistan and wanted to kill in a terrorist operation,” he told the BBC’s Bilal Sarwary in Kabul.

That account has already been rejected by Pakistani Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao.

He is widely reported in the Pakistani media as saying that the men had gone to Afghanistan to celebrate the Afghan New Year in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif: “They were not Taleban.”

On Thursday, the Pakistan embassy in Kabul went further.

“They were innocent Pakistani civilians, ordinary common Pakistanis who had gone to Mazar-e-Sharif to celebrate the Nohrouz [New Year] festival,” spokesman Muhammad Naiam told our correspondent.

On their return journey, they were arrested and then killed “in a staged encounter”, Mr Naiam said.

He said the Pakistani government had protested in the strongest terms with the Afghan government.

Afghanistan’s ambassador in Islamabad was summoned to Pakistan’s foreign ministry on Thursday, even though it is a public holiday in Pakistan.

‘Baseless accusation’

Afghan foreign ministry spokesman Naveed Moez has dismissed the Pakistani version of events.

“This is a baseless accusation which we reject,” he told the BBC.

There were contradictory accounts of how the men died when news of the incident first emerged on Wednesday.

Afghan frontier security commander Abdul Razak said the men had been killed in a clash near Spin Boldak.

But later, an Afghan defence ministry spokesman, Gen Zaher Azimi, told the BBC that there had been no Afghan army operation in the area in “the past 24 hours”.

One senior provincial official told the Associated Press news agency that the victims had been “killed in cold blood because of a tribal conflict”.

Reports say the dead were all from the Noorzai tribe, a sub-tribe of the Pashtuns who live on both sides of the border.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

I heard about this, it is trruly tragic. Hopefully more info will come out and we will get to the bottom of this. Anyways, I am surprised you are taking this high moral stand, or shall I remind of the wonderful things the pakistan army is doing in the tribal areas. Plus, since when did Sherpao care about innocent pakhtuns lol. this is something new. Heck, does he even care about pakistan, the man is as corrupt as it gets.

Let the flaming begin---------->

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

P.S. For those who think I am a fanboy of the present Afghan government, or I am supporting them on this, think again because you are seriously mistaken.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Isn't there a visa system for these people to be identified, or due to hilly area people just cross over..

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

It was pakistanese mistake that they went to Afghanistan. I have no idea why pakistanese are tyring to mix up with Afghanis? I must admit that I dont like Afghanis, they are brutal.

Afghanistan is the only country on this earth (even well before india) who was againt the existance of Pakistan and in some sense still is. The only country that objected when Pakistan applied for UN membership in 1947.

Afghanistan has done nothing good for PK, gave us herion/klashinkov etc. I do admit that our politicians exploited the political situation there for their own benefit but I am not talking about that. I am talking the effect and hatred of Afghanis for pakistanese.

There are several other reasons for me to hate Afghanis.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Correct me if Im wrong, but I think there's a 'Free Tribes' area around the border, and people can come and go through there without need of identification. I don't know if it still exists though.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Yeh, as far as I know the Durand line is something pashtuns have never accepted anyway.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

Im not taking a high moral stand, heck, Pak hasnt much to be proud off… But if you had read all the glorifcation of Afghanistan on this forum, all at the expense of Pak I should add, you would understand that this is somewhat ironic at most… Hits the Pak passport carrying Afghans where it hurts (I hope)…

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

From what I know people often just cross over… But regardless, the word on the street is that these guys were just used to make and example.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

This is truly, as I said, a tragic event, but this is the government, so I haven't any of those hardcore pashunt(Afghans) fully support the government of Karzai (maybe some have, but most hate it).

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

No, they may or may not support the govt, but they certainly support Afghanistan and the break up of Pakistan…

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Their reasoning is to unite the Pashtun(Afghan) tribes who have been dived by the durand line. It wouldn't make a difference if it meant the break up of India or pakistan.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

Dude, thats fine, but then they cant blame Pakistan for actually trying to subvert this whole grand scheme… While they may not care about the country, Pakistani’s do… Let the best man win i SUPPOSE.
Besides, the way these people cross over constantly, you would think the Durrand line had all but disappeared.
And the govt of Afghnaistan seems to irresponsibly promote this idea by undermining the security of our country… Either they lay off, or we continue to suffer for the rest of our beleagured existance.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

Cuzz, dont worry about it
:hehe:
Like I said in the other thread. This is a nation whose NATIONAL AIRLINER was blacklisted by the EU last week along with airlines from other great nations such as
-Liberia
-Republic of Congo
-Equitorial Guinea
-Sierra Leone
-Swaziland
Let Afghanis worry about finding a way to enter and leave there country then we can being discussing territorial issues.
I find it mind boggling this nation of refugees can spend there entire lives using Pakistan, then when they get the chance turn around and try screwing us.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

EXACTLY!!! Not only that but we have suffered a LOT because of Afghanis, drugs and gun culture was developed by them.
Afghanis had been fighting for years and years before even Pakistan existed, so how can they blame us for EVERYTHING in Afghanistan.
ISI certainly played a part in all the mess in Afghanistan but they also played a major role in the fight against Russians. And Pakistan was supporting Talibans ONLY because Afghanistani administration was tilting towards India.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

Its convenient for them to blame us, its the mentality of a failed people to blame others. They cant look inside at their culture and mentality. They have been fighting each other for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

And pakistan doesn't blame india for insurgents in Balochistan? There are some Afghans who throw all the blame on pakistan, without blaming others o looking inwards. This is true, but this statement just got to me.

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder…

that’s so sad…these poor innocent people were killed …because Pakistan and Afghanistan are trying to run a race…

and the prize is??

:ahaa: …the most loyal american slave bringing taliban heads on a plate to Mr Bush…

i guess anti muslim americans are very rpoud to see how well they succeed at dividing afghan and paskistanese…shabash you all, both pakistanese and afghani, proved that american are very well skilled at doind what english did centuris before: divinding to keep you slaves, that’s why you write their language now…

truly sad

Re: Afghan govt accused of cold blooded murder...

We never were united as one people anyways. Unless you are talking about like the seperate ethnic groups.
