Affordable American apparel

Okay ladies, I know its ben a while since I have posted anything but I am in need of help. I was invited to New York in May by a friend who owns a boat (she just married a big time business guy..lol) and I decided to go because for a little over a year I have been so focused on work and have not gone anywhere. So, I was looking through my wardrobe and I mainly have either work type clothes or clothes to keep me warm in this winter weather. I have a few fun cotton blouses but most are either out of fashion, too warm for May(long sleeves or small gala) For those who know NY as I don’t, what kind of weather do I expect in May? Also, what are some types of cute clothing I could wear? And my final and most important question, is there a cheap or affordable online store I can shop from? I tried forever 21 and delias but nothing looks appealing and my price range is between .99(lol) up to $15. I know I sound cheap but this economy has me saving more than ever. I choose to shop online as I have no time to shop in person because of work and night classes. My weekends are spent studying or spending time with the hubby who does not like accompanying me whilst I shop. Pictures would also be helpful. Thanks ladies!

Re: Affordable American apparel

Okay, so I think I'll have to make time next week to shop in person but only sales racks for me!

Re: Affordable American apparel

umm $15 is your ceiling? that's not going to get you much you need to go to like jamaica avenue in new york and do your shopping. go to stores like body shop and stores that are a step below forever21 which is going to give you poor quality material and probably a lot of spandex. forever21 and h&M are great places for bargain american clothing but normally a blouse is around $18-40

maybe you should see stores like ross, tj maxx, and sale racks at macys if you have a macys card you get like 10% off I get $20 off of a purchase of $50 or more and the junior sales rack will have things that can be 9-15 but still that's a really tight budget.

I highly recommend spending money on a classic pair of dark denim (bc dark denim is dressy), a few solid tees and maybe different neckalces or earrings to jazz it up with? May can sometimes be cool and really hot it just matters so prepare for about 75 degree weather overall but you never know what weather you really will have until you get there.

Re: Affordable American apparel

May be jc penny or papaya? u might find something cute and reasonable in these stores. People say that ross is also reasonable in case of clothings but u have to go and look for them so u may try that out too.
And no husband likes to accompany a wife while shopping lolz :p u can ask him to drop u off at a mall while u shop and pick u laters :) (thts wat i do sometimes)

Re: Affordable American apparel

Thanks ladies! I know when it comes to clothes I should spend more but its hard for me as I am slowly paying off school loans etc. But I think a few (not too expensive) clothes would be much better than a bunch if cheap stuff. I think my cousin knows a few places and promised sometime this month to take me shopping but thanks anyways!!

Re: Affordable American apparel

You can get good deals at Macy's, NY & Company, H&Ms.

Re: Affordable American apparel

Yes NY & Company has nice deals too :) and kohl's too!

Re: Affordable American apparel

ny and co is only good if you are buying like 60 worth of clothing bc you get those deals like 30 off or something. normally prices for the avg blouse is like $40.... that doesn't work well with the budget she described unless she's got one of those coupon deals.
