affection

As a kid, i hardly ever recall anyone, other than my own parents and grandparents, ever showing any type of affection towards any kid.. noone would just grab a kid and hug them and cuddle them…

i remember in our group of kids, there were two babies (we must have been 10-11 ourselves) and we all used to fight over these babies… now Mashallah they are older so we cant quite do that.. however i’ve noticed, this affection showing has continued with us… my bubz is showered with affection from these same friends i grew up with… these people arent even blood relations.. yet they dote over every child… and i myself am like that. Prior to being married or even having a kid of my own.. i used to shower my friends kids with pressies and love..

do u see this change as well? do u see the new generation showing a lot more affection than our parents generation?

Re: affection

I agree to that a lot , I do not remember either being hugged or kissed by my parents or siblings, there was love and affection and in showed in many other ways. I shower my kids with kissed on cheeks and foreheads and hugs for every little achievement of theirs.
Expert in child behavior emphasize this kid of contact , they way it builds stronger bonds between parents and kids.

Re: affection

i agree with that too, i did get a lot of affection, as i was the youngest but not all the time whereas i have two nieces and i tell them how much i love them and give them kisses everyday and im not the only one, my whole family does the same, so yeh their is more affection and time for these kids.

Re: affection

I can also agree to that...my parents were affectionate and sometimes still are but not as much as I am with my baby niece. She is 21 months old and the apple of everyone's eye! We cant get through the day without getting some Sumi Love! :)
