If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Plan your personal and household budget and spend wisely.

Other than that, just don't talk to strangers n stuff :p

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

Females find it almost impossible to live on their own for a long time. Sooner or later you'll have to find someone or you will be moving back to your parents house :)

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

Spend wisely is all I can say. Initially when the paycheck starts coming it's hard to resist spending it on all the stuff you've been looking at in malls.

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

You are right as women ultimately sink their tentacles into men (call it "love" ) like good and loyal leeches! :D

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

not exactly the audience to be asking for advice on how young women can be independent.

anyway.. same as for guys in the situation - concentrate on making yourself irreplaceable at work. if your position isn't such, work on acquiring additional job-skills that will do it. the first couple of years as a newbie at work with not a lot of personal responsibilities towards others, or high pressure expectations at work can be a catapult for your career if you use it right.

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

That made no sense as a response.

the first year is the hardest and then you get used to it....
good luck in all you do..

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

  1. Ignore most of the idiots posting here--like queer said..ull be hard pressed to get advice on being an independent woman here.

  2. save your money. its tempting to shop but.....don't. better yet, after expenses such as rent/bills/groceries, put a %age into savings

  3. when grocery shopping, look for deals at places

Re: Advice to Those just Starting Out

1) Take chances, open yourself to possibilities..dont be tied down to a job or a city or a company or even a country..it becomes much harder as you buy a home, have kids etc, still doable and many people do it, but when you start out, stay open to all opportunities

2) Live it up, You will have an entire lifetime where all your decisions will have to factor in others needs, so focus on yourself for just a little bit

3) travel- really, get away as much as you can, road trips, short escapes

4) save..even if it is a miniscule amount in your point of view..both in your retirement accounts, investments or whatever..it will build over time

5) make sure others around you understand that while they are close, there are limits, do not let people interfere in your life.
