This has happened to me, my mum and dad got egged on by the girls parents for years
until the girl found someone better. They just had me as a back up cousin.

If you get a rishta and you dont like him, but your parents do; please find a way to let your parents know so they can refuse straight away or make an excuse. Dont string the guy along. Dont let them string him along hoping that someday you will change your mind, and months go by but nothing changes.
If the guy is on a 'maybe' for you, then DO SOMETHING to screen him and figure out whether you will be happy with him. Talk to him, be socially assertive or use your friends, whatever.
But please dont just ignore him or act indifferent for months on end, whilst your parents are acting like everything is going fine.
I think most guys would rather hear a rejection up front rather than spend ages thinking about/chasing a girl AND then get rejected.

agree 100%. also my advice to both guys and girls is to start looking for someone else if the other family is not giving you straight answer for weeks and months. you are not bound to wait for their answer for so long. just give them some reasonable time frame to answer and make it obvious that if you don't hear any reply then you would automatically consider it as a NO.

i knw a guy ...who married to girl who had the same kinda situation , but she married now n he is facing alot of issues but its a total contract n compromise kinda situation , she accepted him but nt from her heart, i dont knw wht to do how to help thm in such a situation
