Advice regarding O levels after a long gap

Assalam u alaykum everyone,

I’m a housewife and expecting my first baby soon inshaAllah. I would like your advise on something. I left my studies back in 2004 when I was doing my FSc (12th grade) due to some issues. Couple of years later I tried to continue my studies but couldn’t or the options I had were not something I’d like to take. Now almost a decade later, being married and with a baby soon I would still like to continue my studies somehow but I can’t attend college regularly and the normal option I get is to do F.A privately which would just get me a high school degree and later on I can enrol in some university or another program(most likely online). But since last year I’m having this idea of taking GCSEs instead, but it can be a really long and tiring process considering that I’d have to self study and after such a long gap. So I’d like to hear your advise, what would you guys suggest I do? Any other options? Recommendations maybe? I live in Pakistan and not from the biggest cities like Karachi, Lahore etc

Looking forward to you response.
Thank you

Salaam Waleeja.

It's awesome that you're thinking of continuing your education! If you can elaborate on your goals and reasons a bit more, I think it'd make it easier to give you useful advice. How fast/painlessly do you want to get to your graduate degree? What kind of degree programs are you interested in? How competitive are they to get into? Do you intend to work afterwards? What are your reasons for considering the GCSE option?

I hope you understand that the GCSE O and A levels are equivalent to Matric and FSc respectively. So even if you do your A levels, you will still only have a high school qualification. There is a significant difference in the quality of education between the two systems though, in my opinion, but it is accompanied by a greater investment of time, money and effort.
