Advice re: Pakistani Passport “Issuing Authority” Please

I am not sure which section of these excellent forums to post this in, so please forgive me if this is not the correct one.

I am a dual-nationality citizen of both Pakistan and UK. I was born in the UK.

My Pakistani passport has expired and I wish to get a new one.

I had two questions please:

I have seen on the “Issuing Authority” section of my family members’ passports that it states “Pakistan” (they actually had their passports made in Pakistan).

Does it state “Pakistan” on passports if they are applied for in London, UK, as well, or will it say something else in that section of the passport, such as “United Kingdom”?

What are the differences, if any, between a Pakistani passport applied for in the UK and Pakistan please?

I have tried to contact the Pakistani Embassy and Consulate many times, but nobody is ever available or gets back to me.

Thank you very much for your help

I was able to get both, but I went to Pakistan to get mine made, I think it will say the name of whichever country you get it made in ( e.g Pakistan embassy in The UK)

Re: Advice re: Pakistani Passport “Issuing Authority” Please

First of all, you should register yourself as a "dual national (dual nationality holder) with any consulate of Pakistan and obtain a certificate proving you are dual citizenships holder.

Answer of Question 1:

On all Passports (MRP) it is written that the issuing authority Pakistan no matter where u live in and no matter if it is issued from within Pakistan or outside.

Answer of Question 2:

No difference at all, except that the UK will issue you dual citizenships holder certificate and within Pakistan, they maybe issue you or maybe not. I'm not sure about this but you'll required this certificate whenever you are going to apply for Passport from another consulate in another country except within Pakistan.

When I got my British Passport renewed in Pakistan it said British Consulate, Karachi. Don’t know if Pakistan does this or not?

Me talking about Pakistani Passport and they dont :nahi:

Re: Advice re: Pakistani Passport “Issuing Authority” Please

You are right. Before MRPs, they used to manually stamp each passport with the location of where it was made. And back then, the stamp used to have the name of the city/country where the passport was actually made, whether it was New York, or London. But now with MRP, they just type in Pakistan, regardless of where you get it made from. Makes the whole field pretty useless.

Re: Advice re: Pakistani Passport “Issuing Authority” Please

Passport authority of Pakistan decided to extend the duration of passport from 5 to 10 Year. It is started from 1st January.

Re: Advice re: Pakistani Passport “Issuing Authority” Please

There are some codes are written near "issuing authority pakistan", these codes like zip codes indicates the city/country of origin :) and rather then writing city/country names, they are using codes now.

I guess for below 18 age is for 5 years and above 18 age is for 10 years or something like that. Not sure :)

ALL passports in the world indicates:

issues at: name of the city and country it was issued from

ALL Pakistani Passports, or any other country’s passport for that matter, is always the property of Pakistan, or of that country whose citizen you are.
