Advice on MBA

Salaam All,
Just wanted your opinion.. I have a BA in accounting, what should I do in my MBA?

I was thinking of continueing accounting but allot of my friends are telling me to do finance so that I have two degrees. I plan on pursueing accounting as a career and like in the USA.

Please advise.

Muniya, if you are interested in pursuing accounting as a career, why not do a masters in accounting i.e. an MS in acct rather than an MBA and then also get your CPA etc.

MBA will give you a lot more flexibility, its the catch 22 of do you become very speacialized in MBA or do you keep it general? being a specialist in terms of degree or a generalist both have their pros and cons.

I think I am going to do my MBA in accounting and then my CPA.
The problem with the CPA is that I am missing credits and I figured that I should do something productive with these credits, like get my MBA rather then taking basket weaving.

if you are persuing accounting as your career, then i would suggest you do your CPA, CGA, CMA or CA first.
I am doing my CGA(its soooo boring) and i'm gonna do my MBA after(if ever).

I would strongly suggest NOT to go for masters off your own. Get a job in a company and let them pay for your tutions. Unless you have a goal that specifically needs MBA - do talk to other Master graduates and I am sure most will agree with me

most unis don't let you do masters until you have atleast 1 or 2 year experience anyway, but i agree with prince, get a job and get your company to pay for it.

I am working, the company will only pay for 5400.00 a year and they make you sign a twp year contract, meaning if it takes me 2 years to complete my masters, then I will have to work here for 5. Not something I am looking fwrd too.

Muniya, as an aside, will you be going to an onsite school or get your degree online, like U Phoenix or something?

Has anyone done their MBA online? What's your feedback on it, as opposed to onsite school?

An outside school.
I heard the online thing not worth much but the tuition is crazy.

Muniya so $5400/yr if u do your MBA in 2 years the company pays 10,800 but have handcuffs and cant leave, well unless u repay them. so you can look at it as an interest free loan for 2 years :)

muniya i was looking at the statistics and they mentioned in next few years there will be need for international business, marketing analyst and financial people...
