I know there is a hair extensions thread already, but I haven’t got the answers I am looking for from it, so thought I’d open a new thread.
Does anyone have any experience of long lasting, permanent hair extensions i.e. NOT clip in ones, but methods that are more long lasting like glue or micro rings? If so, what method have you found to be the least damaging to your hair, and that lasts the longest?
Secondly, can anyone recommend a good hair extensionist (is that what they’re called?) in London? I appreciate it’s an expensive game, but someone who is reasonably priced, but more importantly does good quality work i.e. high quality hair and does minimal damage to your natural hair?
ANY advice on hair extensions in general would be much appreciated
If you have no luck with those try the actual websites for Racoon extensions, Dome etc. There should be a list of professionals (many of whom do offer a mobile service) they have trained in your area.. If you need any more info just ask
Out of the methods you've mentioned prob glued in will last the longest but it will be hard not to cause ANY damage at all (but if you and the person putting them in + taking them out are careful it can be just minimal).. The plus point of it lasting so long is obviously cos the glue is so strong and usually needs acetone and a proper brush thru to get all the residue out.. Heat-sealed should last as long but is used more for synthetic hair whilst glue is more commonly used with human hair..
thanks again for your advice on this! with glue can you feel it if you put your fingers through your hair? I know with micro-rings you can so I'm not too keen on those. also, what's the difference between glue and heat-sealed bonds? I thought they were the same thing? :S
^The glue bonds will be right at the top nr the root at first so you'd only feel them there and not as blatantly as micro rings.. same with the heat-sealed bonds..
They are both just different methods of holding each individual extension and both are pretty unnoticeable if you go with someone experienced (of course they'll move further down as your hair grows tho.. If you have layers of your own hair covering them they still shouldn't really be noticeable)..
Sythetic hair - usually heat sealed bonds, just cos they do melt with heat then a strand is wrapped around so it's like a mini little knot holding each extension.. Human hair - glue used rather than heat cos it won't melt..
As you know there are the other methods such as micro-rings, shrinkies and so on but those won't usually last as long..
Hi, sorry to be a party pooper, but i was told that it’s not Islamically advisable to wear someone else’s hair? I had extensions myself, but was told to get rid of them, as it would mean my husband is touching a non-mehram’s hair. I don’t know how true it is and have no hadith’s to back it up. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me might know?
