Re: Advice for first time parents???
trust me you’-ll be wanting to co’-sleep for more then a few days! …
Its just easier and no you wont squish the baby … you know why? … cuz you wont be sleeping
… haha jk jk … you’-ll likely become (if you arnt already) a light sleeper like most new moms … also give it a good foot to foot n a half tween you n baby.
This is what I’-ve done over the last 4 wks …
1: make a baby station next to bed with the essentials '- changing mat, diapers, warm wipes, milk (in case baby refuses to latch on), garbage bag to collect the diapers, extra set of burp cloth and blankie, water for myself, cell phone (in case u wanna do middle of night emailing , txting friends or your hubs to wake up n get in there to help u or just to take pics when the baby looks just tooo cute!), tylenol/multivitamins (other meds you may be taking ).
2: I had my bed moved such that one side of it is against the wall. So the baby goes towards that end with me on the open side … if you cant do that , just make sure you come up with a setup that prevents the baby from accidentally rolling over/off the bed. I know I know babies that little are not supposed to be able roll around on their own theoretically … but I tell you mine does … has been since week2 and scaring the crap out of me.
3: banished hubby to couch … so the whole big bed is for me n baby only … less chance to squish baby AND that way baba can get some sleep and be functional at work in the morning .
honestly, with this setup I haven’t had to actually get out of bed (except when I need to use the bathroom) at night… really nice for those who maybe post surgery.
I don’t hAve a diaper gEnie … don’t need one … a walk to the garbage collection outside is easy and a welcome way to stretch my legs ,
get some sun and fresh air … a nice quick break fom a babycentric world (dont underestimate the importance of that!)
