This is my wedding dress, iA and i’m finalizing the changes with Nilofer.
The kameez is really the only major thing that’s bothering me. I don’t like the tree growing on it, the ‘lighting bolts pointing down’ and the material used - otherwise, i think its a go from me. I was thinking of having her make me a less heavy kameez with the kaam more spread out and consisting of flowers and leaves versus this weird thing. Do you think going with a chiffon material is a good idea? The entire jhora is khimkaab which such says has gold woven threads and falls gracefully.
Any suggestions to make this jhora better overall? I also might go with slightly deeper shades, but if its too much to change over the phone, then it might just be easier to take it as is. Color swatches are on there way.
Suggestions? I like the elbow sleeve length and the boat neck line. Would you guys suggestion a zipper on the kameez anywhere? buttons?
Don’t worry about being critical - share your thoughts.
par mujhe toh aise hi bohot khuubsurat lagg raha hai...i think you will look gorgeous in it :)
however since it is mater of personal preference I think you should go ahead with the idea of making the kaam more spread out and having it as leaves and flowers
what kind of colours were you thinking cuz once again i like the original colours i think they're gorgeous
i agree with you, shirt isnt that great. i would suggest keeping the colors the way they are though. or maybe you can play around with different shades of red for the shirt. i also like elblow length sleeves with farshis.
chiffon would look lovely, its a nice flowy fabric but its very light so even though u wanna get less kaam, just make sure u consult with nilofer because it can weigh down. i would suggest going with silk, its very nice, elegant and can hold a lot of embroidery without weighing down the fabric and will look fabulous with that bottom. I'm not sure how a chiffon shirt would look with that specially since it will be short.
You should go to her studio and check out different styles of shirts she has with other outfits. usually you can use another shirt and change the colors/embroidery around a bit. have u not spoken to her yet about changing the shirt around? she should have given some good input.
Oh this one looks gorgeous as it is. Her daughter wore this to her SIL's wedding last year and she looked great. Her shirt was in gold colour though. (Her daughter is married to the guy living next door my mom's place) so I get to see all kinds of casuals/formals she wears designed by her mom. Go for it ! If you dont like the tree part, you can make the branches go down covering the shirt completely. The kaam will thus be dense on top and getting scattered as it goes down.
when i spoke with Nilofer, she mentioned that her daughter actually wore this dress on her wedding. kind of made me feel good :). she said she'd be sending along a few pictures of other brides in the US who wore similar dresses so i can modify the shirt.
my whole issue is that our trip to Pakistan got canceled last week because of a family emergency. now, i'm in grad school, and won't be able to go in time to place a bridal and valima jhora. i guess going to Pakistan wasn't meant for me, so i have to do with phone conversations and email. i'm waiting on the swatches...and in my head the only materials i knew were chiffon and jhamevar. maybe jhamevar will look nice? i want something flowy, delicate, but something that can hold up the embroidery. i also want something that won't wrinkle and will make me look skinny :-D.
she might be helping me with the valima too. at the moment, she's thinking long sleeves, french chantilly lace with diamontes. in my head it sounds pretty, but i'll keep you all posted.
oh, and on a side note - she claims all of the colors of this jhora are significantly darker in person. the kameez is an anari pink/red, the green is not mint, but jade green, the creamish shade is actually a deep taupe/peach and then there's that other shade which i forgot what she said about it.
anyway, she's a really nice woman to chat with! totally not a drama queen...like the others :)
I would like the colours to be a bit darker. Don’t change the sleeve length. What about the shirt length? A few inches longer, perhaps?
I think the kaam on the shirt makes it unique. Atleast I haven’t seen any upside down kaam on any other outfit. You can lessen the amount or change the botis but let the style remain the same. Can you picture the outfit with this kind of a shirt like the mint one?
i think u shud nt get colours change ova a fone conversation...keep da colour da way its shown in pics...u can work on changing da kaam though:)
n by the way how much is she quoting u 4 dis dress?
