Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
Public libraries have kids corner, that may be good resource for first grader.
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
We went there; my kid gets so distracted he wants to pick up only books about predatory animals.
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
What is the reason of extra books of advance reading for first grader?
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
The kid likes to read and is bored/finished with his school recommended reading list.
So we took him to the book store, he picked up two books on snakes and one on Sharks.
I feel like he should be reading some stories as well - to help with the imagination; we took him to the library and he did the same thing - science books.
I just want him to keep improving his reading I guess. Not sure how else to answer you question.
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
You can call teacher and ask other books which your kid can read in addition to recommended list.
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
Muniya, I had the same issues with my squirts…kept picking out dinosaur books…or lego ninjago/toy themed books lol (they were chapter books, just not what I would consider stimulating enough). When I complained to the librarian at school, she admonished me and said that as long as they are reading that’s all that matters and not to try to dissuade them from what they are attracted too. She said to introduce all genres and types of books, but to ultimately let them choose for themselves.

Thank you so much!
Re: Advanced Reading for First grade
The Frog and Toad children's book series by Arnold Lobel. I personally have Frog and Toad Are Friends. Each book consists of several (often humorous) short stories, based on the two characters. But I have no clue as to whether or not they would be challenging enough for a six-year-old.

@Kohinoor_Diamond Thank you!! This sounds perfect!
Advanced Reading for First grade
As much as necessary.

Books by I can Read https://www.icanread.com/
and ORT (Oxford Reading Tree) Biff, Chip & Kipper stories. They are the best in my opinion slowly build up the word bank and the stories gets very very interesting by the time it reaches level 5 and beyond.
